摘要： The object is to provide a video signal processing apparatus capable of minimizing overtaking of fields of a video signal and continuous display of the video signal of the same field and reducing degradation in image quality of the output video signal. The apparatus has a field signal holding section 9 which holds the value of an input field signal and outputs the held value as a held value signal and a readout determination section 10 which determines the video signal of the field to be read out, and which outputs the determined signal as a readout field signal. The field signal holding section 9 holds the value of the input field signal a plurality of times with every occurrence of the readout field signal period, and outputs a held value signal constituted of the plurality of values of the input field signal held. The readout determination section 10 determines the video signal of the field to be read out from a frame memory 4 on the basis of the value of the held value signal in the current readout field period and the value of the held value signal in the immediately preceding readout field period.

摘要： A video display device is provided with a video conversion circuit for extending an inputted video signal in horizontal and/or vertical directions, and a display unit including a display screen whose aspect ratio is longer in the horizontal direction than 16:9 and adapted to display the video extended by the video conversion circuit. The video conversion circuit includes a mode for extending the inputted video at a scaling factor of A, which is equal to or larger than 1, in the horizontal direction and at a scaling factor of B, which is equal to or larger than 1, in the vertical direction, so that videos effectively utilizing the aspect ratio of the video display device can be displayed while reducing incongruous feeling caused by the extension in the horizontal direction. Thus, an increase in the number of screen modes can be minimized, and modes capable of giving a remarkable sense of presence and modes capable of displaying right circles can be provided in the video display device with an aspect ratio of, e.g. 10:3.

Thus, at the time of initialization of the link layers, the respective physical layers can perform communication with each other. As a result, in the data transmission system in which electrical communication is performed, an initialization program (an API which is supplied assuming that physical layers requiring no initialization process are used) designed assuming that physical layers are in a state where they can perform communication during an initialization period of link layers can be used while satisfying the above assumption.

On the other hand, a link layer of a data transmission apparatus 1 which operates in a bypass mode maintains its reset state, and the data transmission apparatus 1 transmits data using only its own physical layer by bypassing its own link layer.
