    • An apparatus for bidirectional communication using one or more auxiliary bands in a wireless communication system is provided. A primary band transmitter transmits data over one or more primary bands in a frame. A primary band receiver receives data over the one or more primary bands in the frame. An auxiliary band transmitter transmits data over one or more first auxiliary bands in the frame. An auxiliary band receiver receives data over the one or more first auxiliary bands or over the one or more first auxiliary bands and one or more second auxiliary bands in the frame. Therefore, it is possible to facilitate a low-delay service and to cope with a rapid channel change due to high-speed movement.

    • A transport control method in a transmitter of a wireless communication system, which includes a transport layer having a congestion control function of transmitting data in a segment basis and retransmitting a segment if an RTO timer expires before receipt of an ACK segment is received in response to transmission of the segment and a MAC layer for detecting receipt of an ACK segment through a wireless link and transporting the detected ACK segment to the transport layer, includes temporarily storing received ACK segments in the MAC layer; detecting an average transmission rate of data segments; and transporting the stored ACK segments to the transport layer at the average transmission rate. Accordingly, by controlling an upward transport rate of a received ACK message by referring to an RTO value of a TCP in a MAC layer, unnecessary retransmission can be prevented by a congestion control function.

    • A power controllable wireless mobile communications system using an adaptive modulation and coding scheme includes a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) extracting unit which extracts a SNR from a received signal that is processed using a predetermined first modulation and coding scheme; a modulation and coding scheme determining unit which compares the extracted SNR with a first requested SNR for the received signal and determines a second modulation and coding scheme; a power control value determining unit which compares the extracted SNR with a second requested SNR for a signal of the second modulation and coding scheme and determines a power control value; and a signal generating unit which inserts a field indicating the second modulation and coding scheme and a power control command field for the power control value, into data to be transmitted, processes a resulting signal according to the second modulation and coding scheme, and generates a transmission signal.
