摘要： A process for preparing alkyl-extended, alcohol-extended or amine-extended piperazines or mixtures thereof comprising contacting a difunctional aliphatic alcohol with a reactant amine, wherein at least one of the aliphatic alcohol or the reactant amine contains a piperazine moiety, in the presence of a catalyst containing a Group VB metal oxide or a Group VB metal phosphate, or mixtures thereof. For example, monoethanolamine reacts with piperazine in the presence of a catalyst of niobic acid supported on hydrated alumina to yield predominantly N-(2-aminoethyl)piperazine. Also, N-hydroxyethylpiperazine reacts with piperazine in the presence of a catalyst of niobium phosphate to yield predominantly 1,2-bis(piperazinyl)ethane.

摘要： A semi-transparent, tray-like container having a flat bottom and substantially vertical side and end walls defining a storage space has flange-like projections on each side wall inner surface in proximity to but spaced from the bottom to define, with the bottom, a retaining channel which slidably receives a removable panel assembly containing a plurality of hinged overlapping transparent envelopes which can be flipped like pages to display flat objects such as photography, stamps, recipes and the like contained therein. The retaining channel holds the panel assembly securely in place with little or no movement even when the envelope pages are turned with the result that the flat objects remain organized and in place in the container for safe storage and convenient display. The container bottom is constructed with supporting legs which may project into the opening of a like container for stacked alignment therewith to provide a system of a plurality of stacked tray-like containers. Downwardly projecting bosses on the container bottom contact the top edge of the walls of an adjacent container of the stack to provide spacing between containers. A semi-transparent lid having edges which overhang the sides of the container and a depending lip which fits inside the container opening may be placed on the container.

摘要： Oxidatively halogenate methane by placing a feedstream that comprises methane, a source of halogen, a source of oxygen and, optionally, a source of diluent gas in contact with a first catalyst (e.g. a solid super acid or a solid super base) that has greater selectivity to methyl halide and carbon monoxide than to methylene halide, trihalomethane or carbon tetrahalide. Improve overall selectivity to methyl halide by using a second catalyst that converts at least part of the feedstream to a mixture of methyl halide, methylene halide, trihalomethane, carbon tetrahalide and unreacted oxygen, and placing that mixture in contact with the first catalyst which converts at least a portion of the methylene halide, trihalomethane and carbon tetrahalide to carbon monoxide, hydrogen halide and water.

The method includes: a) providing within a liquid carrier a first dispersion of nanoparticles having surface hydroxyl groups; b) adding a non-metal-ester molecular reactant for the hydroxyl group into the liquid carrier; c) reacting the reactant with the hydroxyl group to form individual, non-continuous sites having reaction product of the hydroxyl group and the reactant to form a surface treated nanoparticle; and d) drying the surface treated nanoparticle to at least reduce the presence of any excess non-metal-ester molecular reactant and providing non-aggregated powder of the surface treated nanoparticles such that when the dried, treated nanoparticle powder is redispersed as a second dispersion in a carrier or solvent having affinity for the non-metal-ester reactant product, a nano-sized particle is formed.

The method of the invention involves contacting the catalyst support with a hydroxy-functionalized organosilicon compound, a carboxy-functionalized organosilicon compound, or a mixture of hydroxy- and carboxy-functionalized organosilicon compounds, such as, sodium methyl siliconate or (2-carboxypropyl)tetramethyldisiloxane. The contacting is preferably conducted during deposition of the catalytic metal(s) and optional promoters(s) onto the support. A catalyst composition and hydro-oxidation process utilizing the silicon-treated catalyst support are also claimed.

摘要： A process and catalysts for the direct oxidation of an olefin having three or more carbon atoms, such as propylene, by oxygen to an olefin oxide, such as propylene oxide. The process involves contacting the olefin under reaction conditions with oxygen in the presence of hydrogen and a catalyst. The catalyst contains silver and titanium, optionally gold, and optionally, at least one promoter element selected from Group 1, Group 2, zinc, cadmium, the lanthanide rare earths, and the actinide elements. Suitable supports include titanium dioxide, titanium dioxide on silica, titanosilicates, promoter metal titanates, titanium dispersed on silica and promoter metal silicates.
