    • In view of the problems above, it is an object of the present invention is to provide a power generating apparatus of renewable energy type which can achieve a desired output of the hydraulic motor and a stable power generation regardless of changes of the renewable energy as well as a method of operation such an apparatus. The power generating apparatus which generates power from a renewable energy source, includes a rotating shaft 8 driven by the renewable energy, a hydraulic pump 12 of variable displacement type driven by the rotating shaft 8, a hydraulic motor 14 driven by pressurized oil supplied from the hydraulic pump 12, a generator 20 coupled to the hydraulic motor 14, a high pressure oil line 16 through which a discharge side of the hydraulic pump 12 is in communication with an intake side of the hydraulic motor 14, a low pressure oil line 18 through which an intake side of the hydraulic pump 12 is in communication with a discharge side of the hydraulic motor, a motor target output determination unit 45 which determines the target output of the hydraulic motor 14, POWERmotor based on the target output of the hydraulic pump, POWERpump, a motor demand output determination unit 46 which determines a displacement demand Dm of the hydraulic motor 14 based on the target output of the hydraulic motor 14, POWERmotor so that the rotation speed of the generator 20 is constant, and a motor controller 48 which adjust the displacement of the hydraulic motor to the displacement demand Dm.

    • An energy extraction device and method for extracting energy from a fluctuating energy flow from a renewable energy source. A hydraulic pump is driven by a rotating shaft, driven in turn by a renewable energy source. A hydraulic motor drives a load and a high pressure manifold communicates between the pump, motor and an elastically deformable fluid retaining body. The hydraulic pump and hydraulic motor comprise working chambers displacing a volume of working fluid selectable on each cycle of working chamber volume by the control of electronic valves. The pressure in the high pressure manifold is measured and the net rate of displacement of working fluid by the hydraulic pump is selected responsive thereto to regulate the torque applied to the said rotating shaft. The net rate of displacement of working fluid by the hydraulic motor is selected to smooth the energy flow to the load. The net rate of displacement of working fluid by the hydraulic motor is selected to regulate the pressure in the high pressure manifold to remain within an acceptable pressure range. Instead of tightly controlling the pressure in the high pressure manifold, it is allowed to vary and, by allowing the pressure to vary, a smooth output can be produced with high efficiency despite fluctuations in the energy flow from the renewable energy source. The pressure is more strongly controlled at the top and/or bottom of the acceptable pressure range than closer to an optimum working pressure.

    • An object of the present invention is to provide a wind turbine generator and an operation control method thereof, which takes measures against issues such as noise, bird strike and a friction heat of a bearing shaft. The wind turbine generator 1 comprises a hydraulic pump 12 of a variable displacement type which is rotated by the main shaft 8, a hydraulic motor 14 of a variable displacement type which is connected to the generator 20, and a high pressure oil line 16 and a low pressure oil line 18 which are arranged between the hydraulic pump 12 and the hydraulic motor 14. An operation mode selection unit 38 switches an operation mode between a normal operation mode and a low rotation speed operation mode. The low rotation speed operation mode has a rated rotation speed of the main shaft 8 lower than that of the normal operation mode, at least one of a rated displacement of the hydraulic pump 12 and a rated pressure of the high pressure oil line that are greater than that of the normal operation mode and a rated output of a generator 20 substantially same as that of the normal operation mode. The operation mode selection unit 38 selects the normal operation mode or the low rotation speed operation mode depending on environment conditions.

    • An energy extraction device and method for extracting energy from a fluctuating energy flow from a renewable energy source.
