    • The invention provides a filter assembly (20) for a cleaning appliance (10). The cleaning appliance comprises a main body (12), including a motor and fan unit (30) for generating an airflow, separating apparatus (100) for separating dirt and dust from the airflow and a passageway (114) for receiving a filter. The passageway and a filter may be located downstream of the separating apparatus (100) and upstream of the motor, and the filter may have an at least partially curved filter surface. The filter is arranged around at least a part of the motor and fan unit (30). The filter is removable through a side, and through a wheel (14), of the appliance (12). The arrangement facilitates ease of removal of the filter (20) from the cleaning appliance (10).
