摘要： A communication device includes: a signal reception circuit to receive a differential signal and convert the differential signal into binary data; a squelch detection circuit to compare an amplitude level of the differential signal with threshold voltages to detect presence or absence of a signal and detect a non-squelch state and a squelch state; a start pattern detection circuit to enter a receivable state in response to a predetermined start pattern based on the differential signal; a register that stores a squelch setting value associated with the threshold voltages; a DC voltage selection circuit to select two DC voltages in accordance with the squelch setting value, and supply the two DC voltages to the squelch detection circuit; and a squelch setting control circuit to change the squelch setting value to increase or decrease the squelch setting value in steps and sequentially set the squelch setting value in the register.

The fax detector operates by detecting the preamble of a V.21 message, present at the beginning of every fax call. Energy is measured in both frequencies of the BFSK signals. A decision is made by analyzing these energies and locating a specific pattern which repeats itself a sufficient number of times.

摘要： A speech signal coding system including a speech signal encoder for dividing received speech signals into a plurality of frames each having a predetermined time interval and for converting the speech signals into digital speech parameters. The system includes a multiplexer for multiplexing the output digital data from the speech signal encoder into a predetermined frame format; a control frame generator for generating, in response to an inputted facsimile signal, a control frame having speech data frame configuration for identifying a facsimile signal identification data indicating the input signal as the facsimile signal. A facsimile signal demodulator converts the facsimile signal into digital data and a bit-synchronous multiplexer multiplexes the digital data. An output device outputs the speech data frame of the multiplexer to a digital transmission line and further outputs, when a facsimile signal is input, the control frame and facsimile data multiplexed as the bit synchronous data onto the digital transmission line.

When the volume of data received by a gateway from the PSTN side and buffered arrives at the threshold, the data buffered are packaged and sent, and at the same time the buffer area is cleared. And then, data from the PSTN side are received unceasingly and the volume of data received and buffered is compared with the threshold. When a frame ending signal is received by the gateway, if there is some data buffered in the buffer area, the data in the buffer area are all packaged and sent, and the frame ending signal is also packaged and sent, regardless of whether the volume of data in the buffer area reaches the threshold, and if there is no data buffered in the buffer area, the frame ending signal is packaged and sent directly. By restricting the maximum volume of data carried by a data package and therefore restricting delay caused by packaging the buffered data by the upward gateway, it is guaranteed that the V.21 frame signal data could timely and accurately arrive at a facsimile apparatus of the receiving side during transmission.
