    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the best use of a recording speed, to minimize the reduction of a recording speed without complicating a system during reproduction, and to obtain maximum performance at low costs in a system for magnetic recording/reproducing, which performs recording/reproducing in a magnetic tape by a helical scan system by a magentic head mounted on a rotary drum.
      SOLUTION: This system is provided with a multi-recording head having four recording heads mounted on one head chip, and a reproducing head chip 44 including a head unit RH1 having four GMR heads 1 to 4 shifted in a head width direction to be stacked, and a head unit RH2 having four GMR heads 5 to 8 shifted in a head width direction to be stacked, which area arranged in positions to be adjacent to each other in a tape sliding direction and to overlap the GMR heads 4 and 5 in the head width direction. A tape traveling speed is reduced during reproduction than during recording.

    • In a head drum assembly mounting structure on a deck of a tape recorder, a plurality of connecting holes and positioning holes are formed in a drum boss provided at a lower portion of a fixing drum, and a plurality of coupling holes and positioning pins are formed in a drum base which is slant disposed on a main base. By using the positioning holes and the positioning pins as positioning means which are connected to each other in complementary fashion, the coupling holes of the drum base and the connecting holes of the drum boss are aligned with each other, and by fastening a screw into such aligned coupling holes and the connecting holes, the head drum assembly can be directly coupled to the main base while being slant disposed with respect to the main base. Accordingly, any possible damage to a lead line is prevented, and assembly efficiency is improved, while the number of parts and the manufacturing cost are reduced.

    • Magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus is constructed in such that a personal computer is electrically connected to the apparatus through connectors, and that a track deviation caused by the apparatus itself is measured through the personal computer by a nondestructive manner upon tape running operation by installing a test magnetic tape formed with recorded tracks having almost no track deviation to the apparatus so as to be helically wound around the rotary drum rotating with magnetic heads in a predetermined angular range and direction. The apparatus has a device for stepwise shifting the magnetic heads in a longitudinal direction of the test magnetic tape for causing the magnetic head positions to displace stepwise and relatively with respect to the tracks along a track traversing line of the recorded tracks in response to a command directed from the personal computer and a device for outputting values of an FM signal measured at a plural measuring points predetermined along a head scanning direction of the recorded track at every stepwise shifted magnetic head positions as the magnetic head scans the recorded tracks of the test magnetic tape. The values of the FM signal outputted from the device are inputted to the personal computer for further processing.

    • The present invention relates a helical scan-type magnetic recording and reproducing for use in VTR or DAT. This apparatus includes a head scanning mechanism which helically scans the tape (3) that runs in parallel with a reference plane using a head (4) rotatable along a slit (5) formed aslantly relative to the drum shaft (6) between the upper and lower fixed drums (2) and (1) arranged perpendicularly with respect to the reference plane. This mechanism consists of a rotary member (30) disposed concentrically with the upper and lower fixed drums (2) and (1), a linear guide (10) or (31) provided for the rotary member (30) to slide in a direction in parallel with the center of rotation of the rotary member near the head, a head (4) provided for the linear guide (10) or (31), and a cam mechanism (16) or (32) which gives axial displacement to the head (4) in the same direction as the slit (5) relative to the stationary cylindrical members (1), (2), (40). The head (4) is rotated by the rotary member (3) and is, at the same time, linearly reciprocated in the width wise direction of the tape smoothly and stably.
