    • Systems and methods are provided for temporarily coupling an emission sampling device to a vehicle. The system may include an adaptor having a body and a conduit secured to a body. The conduit may define a coupling portion for connection to a source of emissions. An extension arm may be provided movably coupled to the body, including a gripping end configured to align with and grippingly engage a structure of the vehicle. A drive mechanism may be provided for displacing the extension arm with respect to the body. The gripping end of the extension arm may cooperate with the structure of the vehicle and the drive mechanism to exert a compressive force between the coupling portion of the conduit and the source of emissions.

    • The invention relates to a method and a device for the addition of a reducing agent in an exhaust gas line of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, with at least one NOx storage catalyst that is arranged in the exhaust gas line of the internal combustion engine, and with a metering device, by means of which a preset amount of a reducing agent is introduced into the exhaust gas line at preset times. The metering device is created from a stationary gas line connecting element that is made up of multiple parts at a defined position on the exhaust gas line and a connecting counter-element that can be connected in a detachable manner to this connecting element and that can be arranged independently of the exhaust gas line and motor vehicle, in particular removed from the motor vehicle, in such a way that the connecting counter-element, during service, in particular when the motor vehicle is parked and/or the internal combustion engine is idling, is connected to the exhaust gas line connecting element, and then, for purposes of regeneration of at least one NOx storage catalyst for a preset time, a preset amount of reducing agent is introduced into the exhaust gas line. After the regeneration, the connecting counter-element is again detached from the exhaust gas line connecting element and stored at a preset location.

    • An exhaust system sound-reducing component for use with a silencer on an off-road vehicle. The component includes an adapter, an exhaust extension and a U-joint that connects the adapter with the extension. The adapter includes an exhaust port that communicates with the atmosphere and a discharge opening that communicates with the exhaust extension. One portion of the exhaust and sound from the silencer is transmitted the exhaust port while another portion is transmitted through the discharge opening in the adaptor, through the exhaust passage, the U-joint and the exhaust extension and out to the atmosphere. As such, any sound traveling with the exhaust exiting the exhaust port of the chamber will be out of phase with any sound exiting the exhaust opening. This out of phase action of the sound results in reduced noise levels.

    • A removable exhaust pipe cover for placement over an exhaust pipe opening of a non-running internal combustion engine for excluding water and debris from entering the pipe. The cover is an elongated tubular member of water repellant material which is preferably flexible to a degree, the flexibility being for allowing constricting and sealing against the pipe when in use, and for compact folded or collapsed storage of the cover when not in use. The tubular cover has a closed top end, an oppositely disposed open bottom end, and an annular sidewall extending between the two ends. The bottom open end of the cover, in at least one embodiment, has a elasticized gathered hem which holds the cover tightly closed about the exhaust pipe with the closed top end and upper portion of the sidewall covering and thus closing the open end of the pipe when installed. An elongated telescopic pole is provided for engaging and positioning the cover over an exhaust pipe terminal end, particularly an end which is high above the ground. The pole and cover include cooperative structuring for allowing use of the pole to remove the cover from the exhaust pipe end when the internal combustion engine is to be operated.
