    • A refueling boom (106) is described. The refueling boom includes a non-telescoping portion (114) configured to be coupled to a fuel tanker vehicle (100) and a telescoping portion (110) that is extendable and retractable relative to the non-telescoping portion (114). The telescoping portion (110) includes a fuel nozzle (112). The refueling boom (106) also includes a wireless communication system (130) operable to enable wireless communication between a first location of the telescoping portion (110) to a second location of the non-telescoping portion (114). The refueling boom (106) also includes a control unit (140) coupled to the telescoping portion (110). The control unit (140) is operable to send first information to the fuel tanker vehicle (100) via the wireless communication system (130) and to receive second information from the fuel tanker vehicle (100) via the wireless communication system (130).
