The internal data transmission mechanism between MTP3B protocol layer and H.248 protocol layer is established via an M3H adaptation layer; load sharing between H.248 processing modules is enabled by establishing mapping between H.248 links and MTP3B signaling points; the adaptation relationship between MTP3B layer and H.248 layer is implemented by configuring and maintaining logic relationship between table of LinkSets, H.248-MTP3B mapping table, and table of H.248 processing modules, thus implementing the mechanism of bearing H.248 messages over MTP3B.

    • A method and system for handling multimedia calls is disclosed in which an IP multimedia terminal initiates a multimedia call request to a 3G terminal via a video inter-work device; the video inter-work device negotiates with 3G network and sets up a speech bearer between the video inter-work device and the 3G terminal when the 3G network is unable to support the multimedia call, then sets up a logical speech channel between the video inter-work device and the IP multimedia terminal, and makes the multimedia call fallback to a speech call. In accordance with the disclosed handling method and system provided, a multimedia call will fallback to a speech call when the 3G terminal does not support the multimedia call initiated by an IP multimedia terminal such that an H.324M video service is made more acceptable to users and complexity in using the service is reduced while improving user experience.

    • The invention discloses a method for implementing dual-homing, including: setting each one of any two core control equipment as a standby for each other, connecting a network entity belonging to one of the core control equipment with the two core control equipment through a primary link and a standby link respectively; setting the primary link connected with the core control equipment as activated, and setting the standby link connected with the core control equipment inactive; determining whether the core control equipment corresponding to the primary link is out of service, if the core control equipment corresponding to the primary link is out of service, activating the standby link; otherwise, continuously determining whether the core control equipment corresponding to the primary link is out of service. The invention also discloses another method for implementing dual-homing, by which the reliability of the network can be improved.
