摘要： The present invention relates to an encoding / decoding method and apparatus using a tree structure. The present invention provides a method for encoding information pertaining to an image, comprising the following steps: grouping predetermined regions having image information into a plurality of groups, determining the minimum or maximum value of the information to be encoded in the grouped regions, said information pertaining to the grouped regions, and generating node values for each of a plurality of layers to the uppermost layer; and encoding the difference between the node values for each of the layers and the node values of the upper layers, or the difference between the node values for each of the layers and the values determined in accordance with a preset reference. According to the present invention, various items of information on the image are encoded and the encoded data are decoded using a tree structure, thereby improving encoding efficiency and image compression efficiency.

摘要： The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for encoding/decoding images based on an adaptive resolution. The present invention provides an image encoding method characterized by the steps of: converting a present block of an image into present blocks having a plurality of resolutions; selecting one of the initial resolution and the converted resolutions; and generating a bit stream including image encoding data in which the present block having the selected resolution is predicted, resolution data in which the information for the selected resolution is encoded, and motion information data in which motion information is encoded. The present invention can improve compression efficiency by adaptively selecting the resolution of the image in each of the predetermined encoding units and encoding the image having the selected resolution.

摘要： The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for encoding/decoding images considering low frequency components. The present invention provides an image encoding method comprising the steps of: predicting and encoding a present block to generate encoded image data and a recovered block; and generating encoded low frequency data by encoding only low frequency components of an error block generated through the subtraction of the present block and the recovered block. The present invention can reduce the block effect due to the conversion and the quantization and can improve the compression efficiency by encoding motion pictures considering the low frequency components.

The present invention selectively encodes mode information for the intra-prediction mode, and reduces the bit rate of encoded data obtained by encoding images, thereby improving image compression efficiency and the quality of compressed images.
