摘要： The present invention is directed to stable, aqueous dispersions of polyurethane-ureas which are formed by dispersing a blend of anionically modified isocyanate terminated prepolymer and epoxy resin in water and chain extending said dispersed blend with a polyamine having an average functionality of about 2.0 to 6.0 in an amount sufficient to provide a ratio of amino groups to isocyanate groups of about 0.6:1.0 to 1.0:1.0.The present invention is also directed to the use of the aqueous polyurethane-urea dispersions for the production of coated substrates having improved humidity resistance.

In particular, this novel polyisocyanate has a functionality of less than about 2.4, an isocyanate group content of 25 to 30%, and a urethane content of from about 2 to 6%, and comprises comprising polymethylene poly(phenylisocyanate), from about 5 to 25% of 4,4'-methylene bis(phenyloisocyanate), and from about 20 to 50% of 2,2'- and 2,4'-methylene bis(phenyl-isocyanate). This polyisocyanate can be reacted with a polyol mixture to produce the polyurethane backing on a substrate.

These polyurethane layers are formed on a substrate from a reactive mixture, and comprised of A) a compound containing isocyanate groups, B) an organic compound containing isocyanate-reactive groups, and C) at least one material selected from the group consisting of 1) reactive non-ionic polar materials, 2) reactive ionic polar materials, 3) non-reactive polar materials, and 4) mixtures thereof. Polyurethane layers such as these have been found to have improved adhesion and wet-out properties when used as precoat layers for carpet backing.
