    • A deflection yoke device includes a deflection yoke for deflecting electron beams in horizontal and vertical directions, the electron beams being emitted from an electron gun of a color cathode ray tube; coma correcting coils positioned on an electron gun side of the deflection yoke so as to be opposed to each other in such a manner that the electron beams pass therebetween; and a pair of cores around which the coma correcting coils are wound, wherein a sliding mechanism is further provided for allowing each of the coma correcting coils to be slidable with respect to the corresponding core. Therefore, a misconvergence can be corrected by a simplified configuration without reducing a sensitivity of the coma correcting coils.

    • A pair of velocity modulation coils are placed with a horizontal plane including a tube axis interposed therebetween, and a pair of magnetic substances are placed with a vertical plane including a tube axis interposed therebetween. A straight line portion of the velocity modulation coil extending substantially in parallel to the tube axis is placed between the magnetic substance and the tube axis. An interval D between the magnetic substance and the straight line portion is 1 to 3 mm. Assuming that the tube axis is a Z-axis, a size of the velocity modulation coil in a tube axis direction is L, and a position of an end of the velocity modulation coil on a side opposite to a phosphor screen in the tube axis direction is Z=0, a center point of the pair of magnetic substances in the tube axis direction is present in a range of Z=0.2×L to 0.9×L. Consequently, the sensitivity of velocity modulation can be enhanced while suppressing an increase in a driving power with a simple configuration.

    • A color cathode-ray tube including an in-line electron gun and a color cathode-ray tube apparatus including the same are provided. At an end, on a screen side, of the electron gun, two pairs of members for generating a magnetic field are placed above and below side beams of three electron beams so as to sandwich them, respectively. Between each of the two pairs of members for generating a magnetic field, a localized barrel magnetic field is formed to vary cross-sectional shapes of the side beams positioned on both sides of a center beam so that the cross-sectional shape of one of the side beams is horizontally or vertically elongated to a higher degree than that to which the cross-sectional shape of the other of the side beams is. Magnetic fields for reverse correction of spot distortions of the side beams are generated and therefore the symmetry in the spot distortions of the side beams asymmetric with each other is improved, thus improving focus quality.
