    • PURPOSE:To prevent excessive exhaust gas recirculation by a method wherein the system is controlled so as to close an EGR valve when clogging of a particle arrester is detected by the increase of the pressure of the exhaust gas in the system equipped with the arrester, arresting the particles in the exhaust gas, in an exhaust path. CONSTITUTION:Upon operating the diesel engine 1, a duty ratio is determined by a control unit 20 based on the ouptut data of an engine load sensor 21 and an engine revolving number sensor 22 while a pulse signal based on the valve thereof is outputted into a vaccum control valve 16. Whereby, a vacuum in accordance with said pulse signal is introduced into a vacuum chamber for the EGR valve 10 to open the EGR valve 10, and predetermined exhaust gas is recirculated into an exhaust gas mainfold 3 through a conduit 9. Thereafter, when the particles arrester 5 is clogged and a pressure switch 23 is put ON by the increase of the exhaust gas pressure at the upstream side of the arrester, the control unit 20 outputs a signal to put OFF the vacuum control valve 16 and closes the EGR valve 10 to stop the recirculation of the exhaust gas.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the heat loss of a particle trapper for collecting and removing the exhaust carbon of a diesel engine, by blowing a flame from the interior of the trapper and effecting appropriate combustion control. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas from the cylinders of a diesel engine flows into particle trappers through a pipe 12. The number of the trappers is two. The trappers are installed in a right and a left positions. Exhaust passages are shifted by opening or closing change-over valves 24A, 24B. When the valve 24A is open, the exhaust gas flows outwards from the central part of a cylindrical filter 18A, as shown by arrows A, B, so that the exhaust gas is released after it is removed of particles by the filter 18A. A burner 26B is provided at the central part of the side of a filter 18B, into which the exhaust gas does not enter. Fuel and air are supplied from a fuel pump 34 and an air pump 40 through change-over valves 32, 38 so that the fuel is burned. The burner 26B is controlled to optimum by an exhaust back pressure signal 62, the inlet temperature of a thermosensitive section 70B, the outlet temperature of a thermosensitive section 74B and an incineration time signal.

    • PURPOSE:To accomplish optimal combustion by providing a hole of an appropriate size in a change-over valve in an apparatus in two trapper are disposed on both sides thereof and fine particles captured by one trapper closed by a change-over valve is removed by combustion. CONSTITUTION:During ondinary operation of a vehicle, a change-over valve 16 occupies the first position or the second position for passing exhaust gas to either of two trappers 14a or 14b which are disposed side by side to each other. In this state, fine particles contained in exhaust gas are captured by one trapper 14a or 14b through which exhaust gas is passed. When the time of vehicle operation reaches a certain length and the fine particle capturing capacity of said one trapper is saturated, the change-over valve 16 is shifted to the other trapper 14b or 14a by a handle 20 which is driven by a driving means (not shown), and current is supplied to a heater 22a or 22b disposed in the closed trapper 14a or 14b. At the same time, a controlled amount of gas is supplied from a hole 30 formed in the valve 16 for combusting and removing the captured fine particles.
