    • PURPOSE:To save the cost by man-hour reduction and, at the same time, achieve the improvement of the coercive force by a method wherein alloy powder which contains a specific content of B and has a specific composition is compression-molded and sintered and, in the cooling process, the molded and sintered unit is quenched and aged in a liquid metal bath or a molten salt bath which is maintained at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:Alloy powder is composed of 10-25at.% of rare-earth RE, wherein RE denotes at least one of Y and lanthanoids, 2-20at.% of B and remnants. The remnants are practically composed of Fe, Co and Ni which are transition metal elements. The respective contents of Fe, Co Ni are within specific ranges and the total content of (Fe+Co+Ni) is not less than 55at.% and less than 88at.%. The alloy powder is compression-molded and sintered. In the cooling process, the molded and sintered unit is quenched and aged in a liquid metal bath or a molten salt bath which is maintained at a temperature of 250-550 deg.C. By this manufacturing method, the temperature of the whole sample can be dropped to the aging temperature in a short time, so that the deposition of different phase which causes the degradation of a coercive force in a temperature rising process and a temperature dropping process can be suppressed. With this constitution, an aging treatment process can be simplified and a high performance magnet can be obtained while the manufacturing cost is cut down.
