    • A sheet material transferring apparatus of the type including a transferring roller about which the sheet material is wound, a sheet guiding member and a sheet retainer. The sheet guiding member is formed with a plurality of openings through which pinch rollers are projected inwardly. When it is turned in the one direction by actuating a lever, it assumes an operative position where the pinch rollers and the sheet retainer are brought in pressure contact with the circumferential surface of the sheet guiding member while the spaced relation between the sheet guiding member and the transferring member is maintained whereby the sheet material is transferred along the circumferential surface of the transferring roller. When it is turned in the other direction, it assumes the inoperative position where both the pinch rollers and the sheet retainer are parted away from the circumferential surface of the transferring roller that the sheet material to be transferred is freely inserted into the clearance as defined therebetween so as to allow the sheet material to assume a correct position or orientation. The sheet guiding member is operatively connected to an outer sheet guiding member by meshing engagement of projections and recesses which are formed at the one end of each of them. The sheet retainer may be provided with resilient deforming portions adapted to abut against the one end of the sheet guiding member.

    • A printer in which an inkjet recording head is scanned with relation to a printing medium includes an ink supply member to be connected with a reserving portion arranged within the recording head when the inkjet recording head is positioned at the end portion of a scanning area, and a suction member for providing a suction power in introducing inks from the ink supply member to the reserving portion. Associated with a movement of the inkjet recording head to the end portion, those members are connected to the inkjet recording head at a different time. Herewith, in comparison with the case where those members are connected to the inkjet recording head at the same time, a force for moving the inkjet recording head required for such connection is reduced to achieve a downsizing of a driving source for generating the movement.

    • An ink jet cartridge has a recording head with a substrate, a head portion with a discharge port surface on the substrate, a discharge port provided on the discharge port surface, and an ink tank, the substrate having a leading end line. The ink tank has a substantially rectangular parallelopipedal shape and can contain ink. The ink tank includes a front surface, side surface, and opposing surface opposed to the side surface, the recording head is disposed on the side surface of the ink tank, and the opposing surface has a front end line. Plural positioning portions are provided on and project from the substrate of the head and part of the ink tank. The positioning portions project only within a space enclosed by a plane, the front surface of the ink tank, and the substrate. The leading end line of the substrate of the recording head and the front end line of the surface opposed to the side surface of the ink tank on which the recording head is disposed lie in the plane.
