    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that easily prevents fogging, density increase or the like in image forming operation (including imaging operation) started after pause even if the time from completion of one image forming operation till the start of the next image forming operation becomes long.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has: an image forming device including at least a photoreceptor on which an electrostatic latent image is formed, a developing device which forms a developer image by developing the electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor body with developer supplied by a developer supply member to which developing voltage obtained by superposing an AC component on a DC component is applied, and a transfer device which transfers the developer image onto a recording medium; a time detection means that detects information on the stop time of the developing device; and a control means that controls to perform the image forming operation by the image forming device while application of the AC component of the developing voltage to the developing device is stopped on the basis of information on the stop time detected by the time detection means.

The developer restricting member 70 is provided with a magnetic member 72 disposed upstream of a nonmagnetic member 71 in the direction of rotation. The magnetic member 72 projects beyond the nonmagnetic member 71 toward the developing roll 62 such that a gap between the magnetic member 72 and developing roll 62 is narrower than a gap between the non-magnetic member 71 and developing roll 62. The gap between the magnetic member 72 and developing roll 62 can be easily defined, and the members can be accurately mounted so that the gaps can be constant. The amount of developer on the developing roll 62 depends on the gap between the magnetic member 72 and the developing roll 62. Accordingly, variations in the amount of developer can be restrained. Therefore, the developer of the specified thickness is formed on the sleeve 6, and the generation of waviness in the longitudinal direction of the control member 7 is prevented, even if the control member 7 and hopper 3 is severally provided with different coefficient of thermal expansion.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent recording image without having the reduction in a density by providing a partition plate along the shaft direction of a developer carrier within the magnetic force of the developer carrier, between the developer carrier and a developer carrying/supplying means. CONSTITUTION:The partition plate 5 is erected between the developing roll 2 (developing carrier) and the toner carrying/supplying means 3. Consequently, the flowing of the developer between the developing roll 2 and the toner carrying/supplying means 3 is regulated, toner is spread inside a developing device by a carrying/supplying means 3 without receiving an excess charge, and its electrifying quantity is almost uniformized. The erecting position and height of the partition plate 5 are decided with the relation of the developing roll 2 and the magnetic force. At this constitution, the supplying of the toner to the side of the developing roll 2 from the toner carrying/supplying means 3 is smooth. Therefore, the excellent recorded image without having the reduction in the density is obtained.
