    • A braking system and method provided for a utility vehicle pneumatically coupled to a trailer. The system has an electronic control unit, a valve device that can be electrically connected by the at least one electronic control unit, the valve device building up pressure for the trailer braking system when connected, causing the trailer to brake, and a pressure sensor which detects the pressure for the trailer braking system and transmits a corresponding signal to the electronic control unit. The electronic control unit can influence the pressure generated for the trailer braking system by pulsed connection of the valve device, taking into account the pressure detected by the pressure sensor for the trailer braking system. The electronic control unit only allows the pulsed connection for braking the trailer when the service brake of the traction-vehicle is not activated, when conditions are such that the braking of the trailer could be useful in spite of a non-active service brake of the traction-vehicle, and when such an anti-jackknifing process is required by a signal generator.

    • A method is provided for controlling and/or regulating the air pressure in a compressed air supply device for a utility vehicle. At least one pressure value in the compressed air supply device and/or in vehicle components connected to the compressed air supply device is recorded. A humidity value representing the humidity content in an air filter unit associated with the compressed air supply device is determined. A clutch connecting a drive to a compressor is opened. A discharge valve of the compressed air supply device is opened when the pressure value is above a predetermined minimum value and the humidity value exceeds a predetermined threshold value. The clutch is opened and the discharge valve remains closed when it is indicated that the clutch can be engaged, the pressure value reaches a predetermined cutting-off pressure, and the humidity value is below the predetermined threshold value.

    • An air treatment system and method are provided for supplying a brake system of a utility vehicle with compressed air. The air treatment system includes a compressed air outlet that is used for feeding a parking brake system, more specifically for ventilating at least one spring-loaded cylinder of a parking brake and thus for releasing the parking brake. An electrically actuated valve, by which the compressed air outlet can be prevented from being supplied with compressed air, is provided, along with an indicator that can be electrically evaluated to determine if a person is present for driving the vehicle. The electrically actuated valve prevents the compressed air outlet from being supplied with compressed air when the indicator is not provided.
