    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color photographic element having high sensitivity and less liable to lower image sharpness. SOLUTION: The color photographic element includes a transparent film substrate and blue, green and red recording layer units coated on the substrate. In the photographic element, each image dye exhibits at least 25 nm half-width of an absorption peak not occupied by dyes other than the dye. The red recording layer unit is divided into at least two hydrophilic colloidal layers containing red sensitized silver halide grains and silver halide grains having the maximum sensitivity are present in a hydrophilic colloidal layer disposed in such a way that the layer first receives radiation for exposure. Red light scattering silver halide grains not containing an adsorbed spectral sensitizing dye, having 0.05-0.7 μm equivalent circular diameter and oriented at random are introduced into only the hydrophilic colloidal layer disposed in such a way that the layer first receives radiation for exposure by 0.01-0.2 g/m2 coating weight on the basis of the amount of silver. The silver halide grains of the blue, green and red recording layer units contain >50 mol% bromide.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color photographic element having enhanced photographic sensitivity of a red recording layer unit. SOLUTION: The color photographic element includes a transparent substrate and blue, green and red recording layer units containing each image dye forming coupler. Each of the layer units has radiation sensitive silver halide grains containing >50 mol% bromide on the basis of the amount of silver and each image dye-exhibits 25 nm half-width of an absorption peak not occupied by dyes other than the dye. The red recording layer unit has a plurality of emulsion layers, the emulsion layers are disposed in such a way that each of the layers receives radiation for exposure before a lower layer receives radiation and each of the layers contains silver grains having higher sensitivity than silver grains in a lower layer. A red light reflecting layer not containing a red absorbing dye and containing flat platy silver halide grains having 0.03-0.12 μm thickness, an average aspect ratio of >20 and 0.5-1.25 g/m2 coating weight and formed from >50 mol% bromide on the basis of the amount of silver is present between two emulsion layers in the red recording unit.
