      SOLUTION: The engine ECU executes the program including steps of: (S104) calculating the correlation coefficient K relating to the deviation between vibration wave form and knocking wave model by comparing the vibration wave form of the engine and the knocking wave model which is previously stored at a plurality of timing; (S106) calculating the knocking intensity N based on the largest correlation coefficient K among the calculated correlation coefficients K; (S110) determining the generation of knocking if the knocking intensity N is larger than the previously determined decision value, (YES in S108); and (S114) determining the generation of knocking doesn't occur if the knocking intensity N is not larger than the previously determined decision value (NO in S108).
