摘要： A humidifying apparatus 10 comprises a base 56 having an air flow generating means 76, 78 (fan) suitable for generating a first air flow emitted though at least one first air outlet 44 of a nozzle (14, fig 3). The nozzle defines an opening though which air outside of the humidifying apparatus is drawn / induced by air emitted from the at least one first air outlet. A humidifying means 160 (piezoelectric transducer) humidifies a second air flow and at least one second air outlet 52 emits the second air flow. A water tank 120 is removably mounted on the base and the water tank surrounds at least an upper section of the fan. The fan may generate the second air flow. The nozzle may comprise at least one first air inlet 30 communicating the first air flow though a first passage 48 to the first outlet, and at least one second air inlet 42 communicating the second air flow through a second passage 54 to the second outlet. The first passage may be isolated from the second passage, with both passages surrounding the bore of the nozzle. The water may be irradiated by an ultraviolet lamp.

摘要： A humidifying apparatus 10 comprises a means 76, 78 for generating a first and second air flow (fan). The apparatus has a removable nozzle (14, fig 3) having at least one first air outlet 44 for emitting the first air flow, the nozzle defining an opening though which air outside of the humidifying apparatus is drawn by air emitted from the at least one first air outlet. A humidifying means 160 (piezoelectric atomising transducer) humidifies a second air flow and at least one second air outlet 52 emits the second air flow. The apparatus has a removeable water tank 120 having a pivotable handle 184 moveable between a stowed position and a deployed position and having a biasing means (188, figs 12a & 12b) for urging the handle towards the deployed position. The nozzle is configured to urge the handle towards the stowed position. The biasing means may comprise a torsion spring located in a recess 186, which also stores the handle. The water tank may be mounted on a base 56, which may comprise a water reservoir 140 and the atomising transducer. Water in the reservoir may be irradiated by an ultraviolet lamp 170.

摘要： A method of generating humid air flow comprises irradiating water stored in a reservoir 140 with ultraviolet radiation (UV lamp 170, fig 4a), conveying an air flow (fan 76, 78) over the water stored in the reservoir, atomising the water stored in the reservoir to humidify the air flow (piezoelectric transducer 160), and agitating the water stored in the reservoir for a period of time during irradiation of the water stored in the reservoir and which is prior to atomisation of the water stored in the reservoir. The water is atomised by the transducer vibrating in an atomisation mode, and the water is agitated by the transducer vibrating in an agitation mode. The mode of vibration may be changed by varying the frequency or amplitude of vibration. Agitation and irradiation of the water in the reservoir may be suspended when in an atomisation mode or when a water tank (120) supplying the reservoir is removed. The period of time may be in the range of 10 to 300 seconds. The UV lamp may be located in a UV radiation transparent tube 172 within the reservoir. A water treatment chamber 142 may contain polyphosphate to prevent limescale.

The control means actuates vibration of the transducer and to actuate simultaneously the irradiating means and vibration of the transducer in an agitation mode for a period of time prior to actuation of the vibration of the transducer in an atomisation mode. The control means may change the vibration mode of the transducer by varying the frequency or amplitude of vibrations and the duty cycle of driving signals supplied to the transducer. A humidity sensor may detect relative humidity of air in an external environment and a level sensor may detect water level in the reservoir. The control means may respectively change the mode of vibration when the detected humidity is above a preset level or an output from the level sensor.

An ultraviolet radiation generator irradiates the agitated water for a period of time before water stored in the reservoir (140) is atomized to increase the humidity of the second air flow.
