    • PURPOSE:To simply obtain an oxide superconductor by forming a specified pellet, bringing a single crystal having perovskite structure and a higher decomposition temp. than a compd. obtd. from the pellet as a seed crystal into contact with the pellet, forming a liq. phase, etc., by heating and carrying out slow cooling. CONSTITUTION:Compds. of R (e.g. Sc), Ba and Cu are mixed in a desired ratio and pelletized. A single crystal (e.g. SrTiO3) having perovskite structure and a higher decomposition temp. than a compd. obtd. from the resulting pellet and represented by the formula (where R is one or more kinds of elements selected among Y, Sc and Lanthanoids and delta=0.1 to 0.5) is brought as a seed crystal into contact with the pellet and they are heated to 1,050-1,300 deg.C to form an R2BaCuO5 phase and a liq. phase in the pellet. The temp. of the seed crystal side is then set at 960-1,050 deg.C, 5-20 deg.C/cm temp. gradient is given from the seed crystal side to the pellet side and slow cooling is carried out at 1-5 deg.C/hr cooling rate to produce an oxide superconductor represented by the formula and contg. R2BaCuO5 dispersed as fine crystals from the seed crystal as a base point.
