    • The invention relates to a method for calibrating a signal generating device (18) of a haptic accelerator pedal module (10) for a motor vehicle and to a device for carrying out said method. Said signal generating device (18) comprises a spring element (26) which is coupled to a shaft (24) of an actuator (20), and a stop element (28) which is designed to rest on the base of the pedal (30) of a pedal lever (12) of the accelerator pedal module (10) and to generate a force, in the form of a haptic signal, acting counter to the direction of actuation of the pedal lever (12). Said method is characterised in that it consists of the following steps: the stop element (28) is moved along a movement path between a first position and a second position; the actuator sensor voltage and the actuator voltage supplied to the actuator (20) for moving the stop element (28) and/or a current supplied to the actuator (20) for moving the stop element (28), is determined along the movement path; a first range (40) of the actuator current and/or the actuator voltage is approximated by a first polynomial; a second range (42) of the actuator current and/or the actuator voltage is approximated by a second polynomial; and an intersection point (48) between the first polynomial and the second polynomial is determined for determining a contact point between the stop element (28) and the base of the pedal (30).
