According to an appropriate embodiment of the present invention, the seismic retrofit method for an existing reinforced concrete moment frame building by section enlargement and a footing beam comprises the steps of: (a) chipping the exposed surface of the pillar of an existing reinforced concrete moment frame building; (b) installing a pair of longitudinal members which are coupled to the exposed surface of the pillar in parallel along the axis of the pillar to face each other with a predetermine gap therebetween and each of which consists of a base plate and a fixed plate (212) vertically extending from one end of the base plate to have an L-shaped cross section; (c) coupling a permanent form, which consists of a bottom plate and sidewall plates vertically extending from both ends of the bottom plate to have a U-shaped cross section, to the longitudinal members to form a filler casting space between the permanent form and the exposed surface of the pillar; (d) forming a reinforcing part on the exposed surface of the pillar by casting a filler in the filler casting space; and (e) installing a footing beam to constrain the lower end of the reinforcing part installed in the pillar by digging the ground on the lower end of the pillar, installing a form, casting concrete, removing the form, curing the concrete, and performing refilling.

The viscoelastic rubber pad resists elastic deformation against a small-scale earthquake like wind load and absorbs vibrational energy. The plastic link of the connection tube is plastically deformed and dissipates earthquake energy when a design earthquake or any greater earthquake load occurs.

The frictional material generates frictional resistance on a contact area depending on the relative movement to the damping shaft.
