    • A cassette for erasing remnant radiation images on a stimulable phosphor sheet without the necessity of taking out the sheet includes a casing for accommodating the stimulable phosphor sheet and a cover pivotally mounted to the casing so as to be opened or closed. The cassette also includes a light reflecting member for reflecting or diffusing the light introduced from outside the cassette for irradiation on an image recording region of the sheet, or a light transmitting member for transmitting the light introduced from outside the cassette or the light from an inner light source, or a light emitting device mounted at least in register wiht the image recording area of the stimulable phosphor sheet contained in the cassette. An erasure device for a stimulable phosphor sheet employing the cassette is adapted to erase radiation energies stored in the sheet by irradiating the sheet with an erasure light, and includes a housing, a device provided in the housing for opening the cassette placed at a predetermined position within the housing and accommodating the stimulable phosphor sheet to be erased, and a light source device provided in the housing and adapted for irradiating the erasure light on the stimulable phosphor sheet within the cassette in the opened state. The arrangement is suitably applied to cases wherein the stimulable phosphor sheet is stored without being used for prolonged time, in which cases the sheet may be employed directly since the secondary erasure directly before usage of the sheet is not required.

    • In a built-in type radiation image recording and read-out apparatus, n number of stimulable phosphor sheets wherein n denotes a natural number of 3 or more are circulated and reused for image recording. Waiting zones or a stack zone for keeping waiting n-2 or more stimulable phosphor sheets exposed to a radiation are positioned between an image recording section and an image read-out section in the sheet advancing direction. Waiting zones or a stack zone for keeping waiting n-2 or more stimulable phosphor sheets subjected to image erasing are positioned between the image read-out section and the image recording section in the sheet advancing direction or between an erasing section and the image recording section. Or, a first sheet retaining section for stimulable phosphor sheets prior to erasing is positioned between the image read-out section and the erasing section, and a second sheet retaining section for erased stimulable phosphor sheets is positioned between the erasing section and the image recording section.

    • A stimulable phosphor is exposed to a radiation passing through an object to have a radiation image stored therein, and then exposed to stimulating rays to read out the radiation image and obtain an electric image signal. The image signal is processed under conditions suitable for the type of image recording and used to reproduce a visible image. The conditions of exposure to the radiation and the image processing conditions are adjusted by a single action of selecting the setting conditions predetermined according to the type of image recording. Also, read-out of an identification code provided on the stimulable phosphor and the exposure of the radiation are started by a single action. Or, the read-out of the identification code is conducted in response to memorizing of information on the object.
