    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for decelerating and temporarily accumulating a hot-rolled product which is moved in the length direction along a receiving axis at a first velocity V

      SOLUTION: The product is oriented through a curved guide having an entry end aligned with a receiving axis for receiving the product and an exit end which is provided with a space in the radial direction from the receiving axis and which is turned so as to covey the product to the discharging direction traversing the receiving axis. The curved guide is revolved around the receiving axis in a direction opposite to the discharging direction of the product and at a velocity so that the velocity at the exit end of the guide is V
      2 , thereby, the product conveyed from the exit end of the guide is decelerated to a velocity V

      2 . The curvature of the guide and the direction of the exit end are constituted so as to form the discharged product into a helix installed and temporarily accumulated on a cylindrical drum. The drum is revolved in the direction opposite to the revolving direction of the curved guide and, in this way, the product is rewound from the drum.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a divide and chop shear arrangement capable of avoiding or considerably reducing the scattering risk of scrap pieces while minimizing the diverting degree of the traveling direction of non-permissible front and tail end segments on a path toward a chop shear.
      SOLUTION: In a system for subdividing hot-rolled wire product lengths delivered from a rolling mill along a first path, a first switch acts in contact with a first shear to subdivide each product length traveling along the first path into successive segments including a front end segment, a plurality of intermediate segments, and a tail end segment, and to alternately deliver the successive segments to one or the other of two adjacent downstream second paths leading to a cooling bed. Second switches on the second downstream paths are selectively adjustable between first positions allowing the intermediate segments to continue along the second paths, and second positions diverting the front and tail end segments from the second paths to third paths. A second shear chops the front and tail end segments moving along the third paths into scrap pieces.
