    • Disclosed is a method for a handover of a digital broadcasting reception terminal employing a time division multiplexing scheme, which periodically receives broadcast data through each of one or more broadcasting channels provided in a predetermined frequency band, the method including the steps of: when broadcast data of a channel selected by a user in a current cell is received, detecting handover determination information from the received broadcast data; determining if it is necessary to perform a handover to an adjacent cell by using the handover determination information; searching channels provided by the cell to which the terminal will be handed over for a channel providing broadcast data equal to that provided by the selected channel, when it is determined that it is necessary to perform a handover; and when a channel providing broadcast data equal to that of the selected channel is found, performing a handover to a corresponding cell and receiving broadcast data of the found channel. Accordingly, the digital broadcasting reception terminal employing the time division multiplexing scheme can quickly and stably perform a handover, so that the user can view a seamless broadcast although he/she moves from a current cell to an adjacent cell which uses a frequency and/or broadcast data reception time point different from that of the current cell.

    • A method and apparatus for synchronization of a moving picture experts group (MPEG) transport stream, which minimizes an initial delay are provided. A packet synchronization unit and a mode of the packet synchronization unit to are initialized to “0”. Values of sync words are stored by shifting values of a sync word register when the sync words have been received and the received sync word is compared with predetermined code words As a result of the comparison, a determination is made as to whether a bit difference between the sync words and the predetermined code words exceeds a predetermined threshold value. A verification is then made as to whether all bits of the sync words correspond to all bits of the predetermined code words, when it is determined as a result of the determination that the bit difference is less than or equal to the predetermined threshold value and the MPEG transport stream is descrambled before returning to step of storing values of sync words by shifting values of a sync word register.

    • An automatic gain control circuit which is digitally embodied to prevent deterioration of bit error rate generated by saturation of a low noise amplifier located at the front stage of a receiver through an input of high power to an antenna, thereby simplifying construction thereof and improving commercialization. The automatic gain control circuit of a radio data communication system using a spread spectrum method utilizes a low noise amplifier for low noise amplifying a bandpass filtered signal received through an antenna; a limiter for generating a received signal strength indicator voltage in order to constantly maintain the signal received as a local oscillation frequency through the antenna before downward frequency conversion; a unit for separating the a signal transmitted through the limiter to I and Q channels; a comparator for comparing the received signal strength indicator voltage with a given reference voltage; a D flip-flop for inputting an output of the comparator applied to a data input terminal in synchronization to a given first control signal; an AND gate for ANDing the output of the D flip-flop and the first control signal; a field effect transistor having a gate for receiving the output of the AND gate therein, a drain provided with a given voltage, and source connected to power supply terminal of the low noise amplifier through a resistor; and, a modem for sensing carrier, generating the sensed signal as the first control signal, and outputting digital demodulation data from a signal separated to the I and Q channels.

    • An apparatus and method are provided for receiving data generated by sequentially performing bit interleaving, symbol interleaving and symbol mapping in a wireless communication system. A fast Fourier transform (FFT) processor receives in-phase/quadrature phase (I/Q) data of a radio channel generated by sequentially performing bit interleaving, symbol interleaving and symbol mapping, and performs an FFT process for the I/Q data. A symbol deinterleaver performs a process for symbol deinterleaving the FFT I/Q data and reference values to be used for symbol demapping of the I/Q data and outputs the symbol-deinterleaved I/Q data and reference values. A symbol demapper performs a process for symbol demapping the symbol-deinterleaved I/Q data according to the reference values. A bit deinterleaver performs a process for bit deinterleaving the symbol-demapped data. A demultiplexer demultiplexes the bit-deinterleaved data.
