    • Described is a color inkjet printer for optimum bleed prevention in a printer utilizing multiple black and color pens wherein there is provided one print cartridge for dispensing black ink onto the printing medium and at least one print cartridge for dispensing color ink onto the printing medium. The cartridge for dispensing black ink contains an ink with little or no surface active agent while the cartridge for dispensing color ink contains a sufficient amount of surface active agent to reduce bleed between the colors. Moreover, the cartridge for dispensing black ink contains an ink which reacts with at least one and more preferably all inks contained in the cartridge for dispensing color ink. This reaction reduces bleed on images where the black print is adjacent to the color print to an acceptable level without requiring the black ink to contain surface active agents that would lead to inferior quality black text on the plain paper print medium. The reaction may be initiated by pH changes, reaction between the actual colorants, or reaction between one of the colorants and a component in the other ink.

    • Systems and methods for producing permanent ink-jet images are provided. In one embodiment, a system includes a media substrate coated with a porous media coating, wherein the porous media coating having inorganic porous particulates, and wherein at least a portion of the inorganic porous particulates have a first reactive group covalently attached thereto. The system further includes an ink-jet ink containing a dye, wherein the dye includes a second reactive group, and wherein the first reactive group and the second reactive group are configured to react with one another upon contact to form a covalent bond. In an alternative embodiment, a method of producing permanent ink-jet images can includes the steps of covalently bonding a first reactive group to an inorganic porous particulate; coating the inorganic porous particulate onto a media substrate to form a coated media substrate; ink-jetting a dye-containing ink-jet ink composition onto the coated media substrate, wherein the dye includes a second reactive group. The first reactive group and the second reactive group, upon contact, can interact to form a covalent bond.

    • The present disclosure relates to a clamp for sealing a lap joint formed by a first pipe inserted within a second pipe. The clamp includes a strap having a concave inner curvature that curves about a central axis. The strap includes a first axial end positioned opposite from a second axial end. A first axial portion of the strap is positioned at the first axial end, and a second axial portion of the strap is positioned at the second axial end. The first axial portion has a cylindrical inner surface adapted to provide a seal about the first pipe, and the second axial portion has a cylindrical inner surface adapted to form a seal about the second pipe. A radial in-step connects the first and second axial portions. The radial in-step provides a diameter transition between an inner diameter D1 of the first axial portion and an inner diameter D2 of the second axial portion such that the inner diameter D1 is larger than the inner diameter D2. The clamp further includes a single fastener for tightening both the first and second axial portions at the lap joint.
