摘要： 1,268,996. Fish hook attachments. R. L. HAMMOND. 28 July, 1970, No. 36385/70. Heading A1A. A device for attaching fish-hooks to lines substantially resembling nail-cutters, comprises a body portion having two opposed elastic side members 4 which at one end form a V- shaped mandrel 8, and at the other end, the opposed ends of the side members have cooperating cutting edges 6 operated by a lever 3; and a transverse cinch bar 5 which is slidably mounted in the body portion. As shown in Fig. 3 the hook 10 is engaged on the cinch bar 10 and the line is attached by passing it through the eye of the hook such that the main line 11 and free end 11A are wedged into the jaw 8, the free end is then looped several times around the mandrel and finally through the loops with the aid of the bevelled top edges 7 provided on the two side members. The knot is then slipped off the mandrel and the free end trimmed by means of the cutters.

Tables &c. convertible into desks.-A writing- table, which may form the whole or a part of the top of a dining or card table, or of a dressing-chest or other flat-topped article of furniture, comprises three hinged flaps 1, 2, 3 which may be opened to a vertical position as shown, and a hinged writing slab or tray 6 normally concealed by the flaps. In its openedout position the slab is supported by bearers 7, and a hinged partition 12 forms the cover of a lower compartment. The flaps 1, 2, 3 are fitted with racks 5 or with tapes for stationery &c., and the side compartments are provided with pigeonholes. In the case of a dressing-chest, these may be used for toilet articles. The flaps are rabbeted and are secured together when closed by a lock carried by the front of the slab.

摘要： Apparatus for microbiological analysis of a patient sample, comprising: a microorganism extractor; a temporary storage facility; a microorganism identifier; an antimicrobial tester; a thermostatically-controlled incubator; a timer; and sample router(s), for routing: patient sample to the microorganism extractor; extracted microorganisms to the temporary storage facility; microorganisms from the temporary storage facility, patient sample or extracted sample to the microorganism identifier; and microorganisms from the temporary storage facility to the antimicrobial tester. The invention allows microorganism identification without prior need for sample culture, thus giving a significant reduction in the time required between taking a sample and identifying an appropriate antimicrobial therapy. Furthermore, where organisms are identified after their extraction, the invention allows a single non-specific technique to be used for specifically identifying different microorganisms, thus simplifying overall analysis. In addition, results of the identification and antimicrobial testing assays can be analysed by a common technique, which again simplifies the overall analysis.
