    • A dual-band resonator with compact size, such as a resonant type dual-band antenna, which uses an anisotropic metamaterial is described. The artificial anisotropic medium is implemented by employing a composite right/left-handed transmission line. The dispersion relation and the antenna physical size only depend on the composition of the unit cell and the number of cells used. By engineering the characteristics of the unit cells to be different in two orthogonal directions, the corresponding propagation constants can be controlled, thus enabling dual-band antenna resonances. In addition, the antenna dimensions can be markedly minimized by maximally reducing the unit cell size. A dual-band antenna is also described which is designed for operation at frequencies for PCS/Bluetooth applications, and which has a physical size of 1/18λ 0 x 1/18λ 0 x 1/19λ 0 , where λ 0 is the free space wavelength at 2.37 GHz.

    • An adjustable lock is provided for primary use in over the wire medical systems and tracks over a guidewire to a location in a patient's body where it is locked onto the guidewire to form an integrated combination assembly with the guidewire in situ. The lock includes a wire filament formed in a pattern as a quasi- tubular wall structure that circumscribes a guidewire passageway or bore. The undulating pattern includes alternating adjacent opposite facing circumferentially oriented peaks that may be spread apart for a radially expanded and open condition of increased diameter that is retained by a retainer positioned within the lock or between the spread apart opposite facing peaks. Removal of the retainer allows recovery of the lock inward to lock onto the guidewire. Methods and fixtures for assembling the lock in retentions systems are provided. Various retention assemblies and delivery systems are provided for use with the lock and associated device such as filter assembly. An improved filter membrane is provided for combination assembly with the lock in an adjustable locking filter module. An inverted cone filter wall diverts emboli to a collection pouch along the outer periphery adjacent the lumen wall to maintain high flow central area of the lumen substantially obstruction free.
