    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-speed automatic transmission having eight forward stages and two reversal stages, and having theoretically high efficiency and a wide range of speed ratio.
      SOLUTION: The multi-speed automatic transmission comprises an input 28. an output 60, a first gear unit 30 to generate a gear ratio that is greater than unity between the speed from the input 28 and the speed to be output, and a Ravigneaux gear unit 32 coupled with a first, a second, a third, a fourth, a fifth, and a sixth rotary member and the output 60. A first clutch 62 connects the first gear unit 30 with the first rotary member 74, while a second clutch 64 connects the first gear unit 30 with the second rotary member 76, and a third clutch 70 connects the third rotary member 84 with either of the input 28 and a rotation constituent element, and a fourth clutch 72 connects the fourth rotary member 80 with either of the input part 28 and the rotation constituent element, and further a first brake 66 holds the fifth rotary member 82 while a second brake 68 holds the sixth rotary member 78.
