    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To characterize the molecular identity of hMW MMPs found in biological samples of subjects diagnosed with tissue remodeling-associated diseases, e.g., cancer and to provide early diagnosis/prognosis of such diseases. SOLUTION: A method and a kit are provided for detecting biological markers, e.g., high molecular-weight enzyme complexes, to non-invasively monitor the diagnosis and prognosis of tissue remodeling-associated conditions, e.g., cancers. The tissue remodeling-associated conditions encompassed by such a method include diseases such as prostate cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, brain tumors, arthritic conditions, obstructive conditions, and ulcerative conditions. The method uses biological fluid samples, e.g., urine samples, that can be obtained by personnel without medical training, and does not require visiting a clinic or a hospital. The statistical association between positive results and occurrence of tissue remodeling-associated conditions is applied to the early diagnoses of the appearance of these conditions, and to prognoses changes for these conditions.
