    • A rotary format-mask carrier plate carries a plurality of removably supported format masks for originals to be copied and carries them back and forth between the copying station and a change station, where the masks can be exchanged for others and/or copied originals replaced by not yet copied originals. Downwardly extending projections on the format masks extend through and beyond corresponding openings in the rotary carrier plate. While a format mask is transported from the change station to the copying station, it rests on the carrier plate. When it reaches the copying station, the carrier plate descends an amount such that the projections on the format mask come to rest on correspondingly arranged stationary electromagnets, thereby transferring the weight of the format mask to the stationary electromagnets. The carrier plate drops a further amount, losing physical contact with the format mask at the copying station. In this way, shaking or vibration of the format-mask carrier plate, resulting from laying on and removal of originals and format masks at the change station, cannot be transmitted to the format mask and original presently located at the copying station.

    • 1470866 Photo-detector circuits ELEKTROMAT VEB 9 Dec 1974 [27 Dec 1974] 53112/74 Heading G1A [Also in Division G2] A bridge circuit including a photo-detector Fd, Fig. 1, also has a capacitor Cm which integrates the detector current so as to measure the quantity of light falling on the detector. By choosing resistors R B1 and R B2 appropriately, the voltages E1 and E2 on the bridge can be made to become equal after a desired amount of light has fallen on the detector, and this equality can be used to control a photographic or printing process, alternatively the difference between El and E2 may be measured by a meter calibrated in lumenhours. To avoid loading the bridge, it is preferably connected to a further bridge incorporating MOSFETS T1, T2, Fig. 3. Here the detector is a cell FZ, and the output of the bridge Br1 is measured by Br 2 and appears at El, E2. Brl is set up so that E1 is larger than E2, so that once measuring starts amplifiers OV and SV activate a relay d. To commence measuring, contact D is closed and the relay is activated; the relay is held on by d1. The relay activation passes power to a load YE by contact d3, and also opens d2 which removes a resistor R 3 from the capacitor Cm 1 and allows the integration to start. Once the desired amount of light, pre-set by RD1-3 and Cm1, Cm2, has been received, voltages El and E2 become equal, the relay drops out, and the load VE, e.g. a shutter for exposure control, is de-activated. Two detectors in parallel may be used in Brl to extend the wavelengths to which the apparatus is sensitive. For photo-diodes or resistors a constant current source is preferable in Br1.

[Also in Division B6] Blank stencil material 4 comprises a laminate of a temporary support 1 of a transparent plastics material, a weak dyed adhesive 3 and a plastics material foil 2 impregnated or imprinted with a light fiiltering dye. The adhesive is such that it adheres to the foil 2 when the temporary support is removed. The material 4 is cut into stencil shapes by inscribing with a cutting tool the foil 2 and the adhesive 3 leaving the support 1 untouched Any piece so inscribed is lifted from the support and applied to any surface, e.g. a silk screen, which is to be partially marked, the adhesive 3 providing the necessary adherence. In a further embodiment the foil 2 is covered with a layer of solvent or heat-activable adhesive.
