    • The float operated control valve includes a one-piece molded plastic valve body having a valve chamber, a first cylindrical extension defining an inlet chamber in communication with the valve chamber, a second cylindrical projection defining an outlet chamber in communication with the valve chamber and disposed at right angles to the first cylindrical projection and a third cylindrical projection having a cylindrical passage in which a plunger is slidably mounted. The plunger has a valve member mounted on one end thereof within the valve chamber for engagement with a valve seat surrounding a passage between the inlet chamber and the valve chamber. A diverter plate is disposed at an angle to the axis of the first and second cylindrical projections for diverting the fluid entering the valve chamber from the inlet chamber toward the outlet chamber. An apertured plate is detachably mounted in the inlet chamber for providing turbulence to reduce the pressure and to prevent the passage of large particles which would damage the valve member.

    • The present invention is directed to a hydraulically balanced ballcock (10). A unique valve element (60) is translationally slidable within a valve housing (22) provided in the body (11) of the ballcock (10). A washer (74) received on the head (70) of the piston (61) in the valve element (60) moves in and out of engagement with a valve seat (85) presented from the valve housing (22) to effect closure and opening of the ballcock (10). A bore (95) extends through the piston (61) and stem portion (62) of the valve element (60) to communicate with a control chamber (125). Radial orifices (98 to 101) through a nozzle (73) that extends forwardly of the piston head (70) and through the washer (74) are located to communicate the pressure resulting from the venturi effect of fluid flow between the washer (74) and the seat (85) to the control chamber (15) by virtue of the bore (95). A metering pin (120) effects a time delay in the transmission of pressure to the control chamber (125) through bore (95), and the axial orifice (96) in nozzle (73) regulates the degree of the pressure differential. Passageways (75) vent the rear of the washer (74) to retain it in situ without a mechanical means. A support ring (111) is rotatably received on the valve housing (22) to permit tightening of the end cap (114) onto the housing (22) without deleterious effect on a rolling diaphragm (104) secured thereby, and the float (31) and counter weight (26) are uniquely adjustable and are operably connected to the valve element (60) by a relatively short lever (40).

    • A ballcock assembly adaptable for use in a variety of sizes and types of toilet flush tanks. The ballcock assembly comprises a standpipe having a ballcock valve at its upper end and having an adjustable height mechanism for varying the height of the ballcock valve in a toilet flush tank. The ballcock valve is a positive closing valve which includes a valve element movable to an open position against the pressure of the supply water by means of a valve actuating member that is pivotally connected to the standpipe and that is also connected to a float unit which surrounds the standpipe unit. The standpipe includes a hush tube which conveys water to the bottom of the toilet flush tank. The hush tube carries water distribution control means which functions to control the proportion of water delivered to the toilet flush tank and to the bowl refill.

    • A float controllable valve responsive to the level of condensate having a housing with an internal chamber including an input supply opening and a discharge opening. There is a membrane capsule disposed in the interior of the housing and formed with at least a first throttle inlet bore communicative to the interior of the membrane capsule with the internal chamber of said housing at a pressure side. The membrane capsule includes a rigid inlet nozzle extending into the interior of the membrane capsule and has a nozzle bore communicating with the discharge channel. The inlet nozzle has a valve seat in the interior of the membrane capsule between the throttle bore and the nozzle bore. A locking member is slidably disposed and extends into the interior of the membrane capsule and has one end in sealing contact with the valve seat. There is a pivotable lever arm having a float secured at one end and disposed outside of the membrane capsule and having its opposite end pivotably coupled to the housing, said lever arm being pivotably coupled to the opposite end of the locking member. A movable wall portion is formed with a second throttle bore through which said rigid inlet nozzle extends, the wall portion being longitudinal movable with respect to the nozzle and connected to the locking member, so that when the fluid contacts the float and lifts the locking member from the valve seat, a pressure differential is created on both sides of the movable wall portion so that an additional opening force is exerted on said locking element which opens the valve rapidly.

    • Covers a water control valve for the water tank of a toilet bowl in which the valve structure is constructed for better and more positive anti-siphonic action. The valve structure includes a plunger which is coupled by a lever arm to a float so that the plunger may move vertically within a chamber having a tapered wall in response to changes in the level of water in the tank. The chamber has an opening at the bottom for a valve seat which may be sealed by an elastomer affixed to the base of the plunger when the plunger reaches its lowermost position to close the valve. Near its upper end, the plunger has a collar for loosely supporting two elastomer disks of considerable elasticity to seal the upper end of the chamber for the anti-siphonic action. An additional flexible elastomer element is positioned on another collar of the plunger and is spaced from the tapered wall of the chamber throughout the stroke of the plunger in either direction. The anti-siphonic disks are located within a housing having a cap with a plurality of holes therein through which air may be admitted, and the cap is also provided with an overhanging canopy which blocks the admission of foreign matter to the chamber while permitting air to enter the chamber. The cap is joined to a body member to complete the housing, the body member providing the chamber in which the plunger is freely movable.
