    • PURPOSE: An electric type abrasion sensor unit for brake pad is provided to prevent the inflow of the worn pad dust and foreign material by determining the pad abrasion using the movement change of the caliper according to the pad abrasion. CONSTITUTION: An electric type abrasion sensor unit comprises a torque member(4) and a sensor. The torque member is formed in a pair of caliper bodies transferring the pad located in both sides of the wheel disk towards the wheel disk. The sensor informs the replacement time of the pad. The sensor is installed by using the guide rod inserted into the torque member to the pierced guide rod hole. The sensor comprises a stopper sensor, a metal pin(3), and an electric signal line. The stopper sensor forms the sensitive stage into the inner space. The metal pin goes through the sensitive stage according to the abrasion rate of the pad. The electric signal line comprises an indicator informing the change time of the pad in the stopper sensor.

The ECU operates the warning lamp when the ABS is abnormal and the conductive wires are disconnected.

      SOLUTION: The return spring 18 on the inner side is formed as an integrated structure consisting of a fixed part 18A, a first extension part 18B, a second extension part 18C and a friction detection part 18E by bending a metal plate 19. The first extension part 18B is raised up to be apart from the side of the fixed part 18A to the axial outside of a disc 1, and oriented so that the direction of its plate thickness is the approximately radial direction of the disc 1. The second extension part 18C is formed by turning the first extension part 18B at its front end side back into an approximate V- or U-shape, and provided extending obliquely toward the side of a bent piece portion 17A of an abutting plate part 17. A protruded portion 18D provided at the front end side of the second extension part 18C is put in contact with the surface of the abutting plate part 17 in an approximate point-contact state.
