    • A toy rocket set that includes a rocket and a launcher for the rocket that utilizes compressed air to launch the rocket. The upper end of the launch tube has an end cap secured thereupon by a threaded connection. An annular elastomeric element is retained between the end cap and the launch tube body. As the end cap is tightened onto the launch tube body, the elastomeric element is compressed resulting in an adjustable frictional engagement with a radially enlarged nose cone on the rocket. The centerpoint of the parachute is secured by a tether to a removable link in the rocket body. The removable link is retained within the rocket body by a slidable rod. During flight, when the rocket inverts, the rod slides within the rocket body to release the link and permit the parachute to deploy to an open position.

    • A bottle rocket launcher is provided for rockets constructed for educational and entertainment purposes out of synthetic resin bottles used primarily for soft drinks. The rocket launcher includes a bottle plug for filling the bottle rocket with compressed gas such as air and guiding it as it exits the launcher, a release mechanism for initially retaining and then selectively releasing the rocket adjacent its nozzle, and a base. The release mechanism provides multiple hooks which grab a rim adjacent the nozzle, and selectively and simultaneously releases each of the hooks, whereby the upward force applied by the compressed gas against the liquid causes the hooks to slide off of the rim and permits the rocket to lift off of the launcher. The bottle plug is releasably connected to the release mechanism, while a gas delivery conduit remains connected to the bottle plug for inhibiting spillage of liquid from the bottle rocket until the bottle rocket is secured to the release mechanism and filled with compressed gas prior to launch.

    • A toy dart includes a cylindrical wall having an inner surface, an outer surface, a first open end at one end of the cylindrical wall, and second open end at the other end of the cylindrical wall. At least two fins are attached to the outer surface of the cylindrical wall. In addition, a resilient, bulbous head portion is mounted on the cylindrical wall at the second open end thereof, the head portion defining a chamber adapted to contain fluid and having an opening formed therein so that the chamber communicates with an interior of the cylindrical wall. The toy dart is constructed and arranged for aerodynamic flight when thrown, and upon the bulbous head impacting a hard surface, the bulbous head portion deforms for moving fluid contained therein into the interior of the cylindrical wall. Other embodiments of the toy dart are further contemplated.

    • A model rocket kit which has a substantially lower material and manufacturing cost is provided. The model rocket kit includes at least one flat sheet of cardboard material which includes the outlines of the various components of a model rocket such as the rocket frame, nose cone, and recovery device. In order to assemble the model rocket, the various components are either punched by means of perforations or cut out of the flat sheet of cardboard material. The various components of the model rocket are then folded into the appropriate form and secured using conventional adhesive tape or the like. The resulting model rocket has a structurally stable and aerodynamic configuration which is reusable and results in a stable and true flight.

    • The present invention involves a liquid jet propelled rocket and rocket launcher. The launcher has a housing which includes a vessel for holding pressurized air therein, an inlet to the vessel and an outlet from the vessel. Also, the housing has a jet tube receiver extending from the outlet and adapted to connect with a jet tube of a rocket assembly. A pump is connected to the vessel inlet of the housing, the pump is connected for and capable of pumping air into the vessel at a pressure sufficient to launch the rocket assembly. A one way valve is connected to the pump and permits the flow of air only from the pump to the vessel. There is a rocket assembly latch mechanism located on the housing with means for releasing the latch. There are also, a rocket assembly which includes a liquid reservoir for receiving liquid and subsequently receiving air under pressure from the pump, a jet tube extending from the liquid reservoir and adapted to sealably and releasably connect to said jet tube receiver of the housing. The rocket assembly with the jet tube is releasably attachable to the housing with the jet tube coupled in fluid communication with the jet tube receiver by the latch mechanism, wherein the liquid may be stored within the rocket reservoir, and air may be pumped into the rocket reservoir and into the launcher vessel by means of actuating the pump.
