    • A series of arrangements from a CCD sensor to an input masking unit output image data obtained by reading an original image. A JPEG-I/F receives JPEG or MPEG image data from an ATM network. The input JPEG or MPEG data is temporarily stored in a page memory, and is read out from the page memory in synchronism with the image formation timings. The readout data is decoded by a JPEG (or MPEG) expansion unit. A bus selector selects the image data output from the input masking unit or the JPEG (or MPEG) expansion unit, and the selected image data is supplied to a compression unit via a color space conversion unit and a zooming unit. The memory size can be reduced using a common coding unit and high-quality image data can be output independently of whether or not input image data is coded.

    • An approach to rapidly pre-charging bit lines (104a and 104b) after a write operation to a memory cell (128) is disclosed. Following a write operation, a Y-select signal (Yj) and its inverse (/Yj) are maintained in an active state for a given period of time, keeping the transistors within a column selecting circuit (102) turned on. Pre-charging circuits (106 and 108) are also turned on. Consequently, the bit lines (104a and 104b) are pre-charged by the bit line pre-charging circuit (106), and by the pre-charging circuit (108) by way of a read bus (124) and the column selecting circuit (102). Furthermore, a write amplifier (112) is also activated, resulting in the bit lines (104a and 104b) being further pre-charged by way of a write bus (126) and the column selecting circuit (102).

    • A heat exchanger tube includes ribs formed in protrusion on an internal surface of the tube and extending spirally with a suitable distance between adjacent ribs, concavities formed on the external surface of the tube and extending spirally with a suitable distance between adjacent concavities, and a plurality of independent projections formed on the external surface of the tube and laid out spirally. The projections are formed with a recess on their top surfaces in such a way that a portion aligned with the ribs on the internal surface of the tube is lower than a portion aligned with an area between the ribs. Further, the concavities on the external surface of the tube and the ribs on the internal surface of the tube are formed at mutually aligned positions.

    • An image processing apparatus which is capable of combining two images desirably by providing weight and performing an image editing operation. The image processing apparatus has an addition/output device for adding the weighting factors of a first and a second image data and outputting it; a counter device for counting the image data in the direction of the main scanning or sub-scanning or in both of the directions; and an addition control means for changing the weighting factors in the weighting operation performed in the addition/output device on the basis of the count value of the counter means. As a result, weighting factors can be changed within one combined image. Thus, desired image editing operations can be performed.
