    • PURPOSE:To cast directly a thin billet and to simplify control of the amt. of a molten steel by using a broad slit nozzle as a charging nozzle and heating and insulating the nozzle part. CONSTITUTION:Resistors 6 are embedded in a nozzle 4 near the wall surface which contacts with a molten steel 5. The resistors 6 are connected to a power source 7. The molten steel 5 is supplied through a pouring cup 9 when a cover 8 attached with a pressure conduit pipe 3 is opened. After the prescribed steel 5 is received in a ladle 1, the cover 8 is closed and inert gas is supplied through the pipe 3 then the pressure in a pressure chamber 10 rises and the molten steel 5 moves toward the nozzle 4. The molten steel is supplied through the aperture 11 of the nozzle 4 to the next stage. The resistors 6 generate heat, when energized, to heat and insulate the nozzle 4 so that the molten steel 5 is prevented from solidification during passage through the nozzle 4.

    • PURPOSE:To efficiently raise the temp. of brine in a heat transfer pipe at a higher temp. side, by providing the heat absorbing part of a heat pipe at a higher temp. part at the side of a brine heater line and the heat discharging part of said heat pipe in a water chamber for recovering heat. CONSTITUTION:During ordinary full-load operation, equipment is driven while closing a control valve 23 provided in the middle of a heat pipe 22 to hold the function of the heat pipe 22 under an unacting condition. When the equipment comes under a partial load, the control valve 23 is released to operate the heat pipe 22. Hence, the drain heat of a brine heater 1 is transferred to brine inside a heat transfer pipe 26 at a circulating stage 21 by the action of the heat pipe 22 to raise the temp. of said brine, and all flash chambers are effectively driven to inhibit the deterioration of the efficiency of desalination. In this equipment, the heating temp. of brine in the heat transfer pipe at the circulating stage is controlled on the basis of the degree of a partial load, so that the efficiency of desalination can be maintained at a high value in response to various partial loads.

    • PURPOSE:To extend the life of belts and to improve productivity in a belt type continuous casting device by using perforated plates for the contact surfaces of the belt retaining blocks on both sides and supplying a lubricant thereby decreasing the frictional resistance with the belts and decreasing driving force. CONSTITUTION:Perforated plates 14 are used for the contact surfaces of retaining blocks 12 and the contact surfaces thereof with belts 2 are lubricated by the lubricating oil from passages 16 for the lubricating oil whereby the frictional resistance is decreased in the press contact part of the belts and water-cooled side blocks 9 of a belt type continuous casting and frame moving device which adjusts the position where the solidification of a molten metal is completed to a specified position. The driving force of the belts 2 and the frictional damage of the belts 2 are decreased and since the belts are operated for a longer time, productivity is improved.

In this case, the ingot 9 is cooled and as the outer solidified shell grows, it shrinks vertically and laterally; therefore, the tracks 10, 10 are pressed in the width direction of the ingot 9 by adjusting guide rails 11 to maintain the contact with the ingot 9, thereby preventing the decrease in the cooling effect of the ingot 9 by the endless tracks. At this time, the right and left endless tracks 10, 10 contact the upper, lower endless tracks and fracture on account of friction, thereby giving flaws to the surfaces of the ingot 9 as well. Therefore, a lubricant is supplied to the tracks 10, 10 by a lubricant feeder 13, so that the occurrence of the above-mentioned trouble is prevented.

When the temp. distribution of the mold 1 changes owing to the level fluctuations of the molten steel 9 in the mold, the magnetic bodies 7 change said temp. distribution into the change in specific magnetic permeability. Next, the change in this said permeability is detected as a change in impedance of a coil by a coil 8 connected to an AC power source, whereby the level of the molten steel 9 in the mold is detected.
