    • A horizontal compressor including an electric motor and a compressor element mounted in a case serving concurrently as an oil sump. The compressor element includes a cylinder, a shaft having a crank, a roller fitted to the crank for eccentric rotation along inner side surfaces of the cylinder, a vane moving in reciprocatory movement in a bore of the cylinder while abutting against the roller, two side plates located on opposite sides of the cylinder, one of the two side plates being formed with a suction port for a lubricant and the other side plate being formed with a discharge port for the lubricant, and a pump chamber defined by a back of the vane, the bore of the cylinder and the two side plates. The suction port is in the form of a tapering port including a small diameter portion directly adjacent the pump chamber and a large diameter portion directly adjacent the case; the discharge port is in the form of a tapering port including a small diameter portion directly adjacent the lubricant feed passage and a large diameter portion directly adjacent the pump chamber; and a space is provided at least to the suction port in a position in which the space is in communication with the small diameter portion of the suction port.

    • An automatic focusing camera is provided with an ultrasonic distance measuring instrument capable of varying the directivity of an ultrasonic beam to be transmitted depending upon the angle of view of a photographic lens used. A plurality of circuit components one of which is selected so as to determine the oscillation frequency of an oscillator mounted in a camera body depending upon the angle of view of a photographic lens attached to the camera are mounted on the camera body, and a selecting means is mounted on the lens mount of a photographic lens at a position corresponding to the angle of view thereof so that when the photographic lens is attached to the camera body, its selecting means establishes an electrical connection of a predetermined one of said circuit components to said oscillator, whereby the latter oscillates at a predetermined frequency and consequently the ultrasonic beam transmitted has a predetermined directivity corresponding to the angle of view of the photographic lens.

    • An automatic film transport device for use in cameras has a first function of (i) automatically completely unrolling an unexposed film from a film case or magazine and winding it on a take-up reel or spool and a second function of (ii) automatically rewinding the film into the film case or magazine by a predetermined length (corresponding to the width of one frame) each time one exposure has been completed. Therefore, even when one erratically opens the camera back when the film is still loaded in the camera, the exposed frames have been already rewound into the light-shielded film case or magazine, so that they may be prevented from being ruined or reexposed. In addition to the first and second functions as described above, the automatic film transport device may be provided with a function or capability of counting and displaying the number of all exposable frames on the film wound on the take-up reel or spool or the remaining number of exposable frames.

    • In an electronic photographic flash apparatus comprising a DC-DC converter, a high tension capacitor, and a gas-discharge flash tube to produce a light flash by consuming electric energy stored in said high tension capacitor,the improvement is that the apparatus further comprisinga low tension capacitor and a switching circuit which connects the low tension capacitor parallel to the DC low voltage source for charging therein at an off-state of the apparatus, and connects the low tension capacitor in series to the DC low voltage source in a subsequent stand-by period thereby to boost the operation of the DC-DC converter at an initial stage in the waiting time when the power switch is on, so as to quickly charge up the high tension capacitor.
