    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical sheet having excellent scratch resistance that can prevent scratches of the sheet itself when the optical sheet having an optical element surface such as a prism is disposed adjacent to other members or to the same sheet, and to provide a surface light source device and a liquid crystal display device using the sheet.SOLUTION: An optical sheet 10 includes unit optical elements 2 arranged on one surface 1p of a main body 1 and a backside face Pm as an exposed face on the other surface 1q. The hardness He of an optical element face Pe and the hardness Hm of the backside face Pm, in terms of pencil hardness specified by JIS K5600-5-4 (1999) under the conditions of 1000 g load and 1 mm/s velocity, are specified to satisfy that the hardness Hm is in a level of B or higher and (hardness Hm)≥(hardness He). More preferably, when a unit hardness level higher in the pencil hardness scale is denoted by +1, the hardness levels of the above faces are controlled to satisfy (hardness He)+3≥(hardness Hm)≥(hardness He)+2. Two of the optical sheets may be stacked adjoining to each other in the same direction of top and back faces. The optical sheet is used for a surface light source device and a liquid crystal display device.
