    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of a seat belt retracting device with a motor allowing reliable retraction in a normal state and giving no oppressive feeling when a part of the body of an occupant is caught by a seat belt. SOLUTION: When a command for driving a seat belt retractor with the motor 5 is given to a motor control circuit 6, the motor control circuit 6 starts power supply to the motor 5 and puts a clutch 3 into a state of connecting the seat belt retractor 1 and a reduction gear 4. Electric current supplied to the motor 5 is detected by a current detection circuit 7 and is fed back to the motor control circuit 6. The motor control circuit 6 reads out a current value detected by the current detection circuit 7 at predetermined time intervals and calculates a difference value from the value previously read.     • To provide a seat belt retractor and a seat belt apparatus allowing the tension of a seat belt to be changed according to an occupant's preference. A seat belt apparatus (100) comprises a seat belt; a tongue attached to the seat belt; a buckle which can latch and release the tongue as the occupant's choice; and a seat belt retractor (1) wherein a reel (4) to which an end of the seat belt is fixed is rotated in the belt winding direction by a spring means (14) to wind up the seat belt and a motor (10) is controlled by a motor control unit (101) to rotate the reel (4) in the belt winding direction to wind up the seat belt. The motor control unit (101) is designed to control the rotational power of the motor (10) to wind up the seat belt with a desired winding force (Fig. 1).
