摘要： Deteriorating developer including toner and carrier in a developer container is replaced by supplying carrier developer including carrier from a developer supply unit and discharging an amount of the deteriorated developer corresponding to the amount of the supplied carrier developer through a discharge opening formed in the developer container by opening a cover. The cover is driven by a solenoid for discharging. With this structure, even when the amount of developer in the developer container is changed and the surface level of the developer is changed, a predetermined amount of deteriorated developer is accurately discharged according to the driving of the cover. It is thus possible to control in a desired manner the replacement ratio of deteriorated developer in the developer container to new developer to be supplied. With this configuration, it is possible to maintain the charge of developer substantially uniform and good image quality of copies.

摘要： A data output circuit with a first and a second input node and an output node has a two-input NAND gate connected to the two input nodes, a two-input NOR gate connected to the two input nodes and a first to a fourth field effect transistor. The first and second transistors are connected in parallel between a power source line and the output node with the gate of the first transistor being connected to an output of the NAND gate and with the gate of the second transistor being connected to the first input node. The third and fourth transistors are connected in parallel between the output node and the ground line with the gate of the third transistor being connected to an output of the NOR gate and with the gate of the fourth transistor being connected to the first input node. The first and second transistors are P-channel MOS transistors and the second and third transistors are N-channel MOS transistors. The data output circuit can produce outputs of four different levels based on combinations of levels of signals applied to the two input nodes.

摘要： A toner transfer device which transfers toner on a photoconductor to an intermediate transfer belt applied on a plurality of rollers, wherein at least part of the surface of the photoconductor moves in an arc while being pressed against the intermediate transfer belt, the toner transfer device comprising: a pair of transfer rollers disposed along the intermediate transfer belt between two of the rollers in such a manner that the part of the surface of the photoconductor which moves in an arc is positioned between the transfer rollers, at least part of each transfer roller being located outside each of two tangents, one of the tangents touching the photoconductor and one of the two rollers, the other tangent touching the photoconductor and the other roller, thereby allowing a certain length of the intermediate transfer belt between the two transfer rollers to be pressed against the part of the surface of the photoconductor moving in an arc; and a means for applying voltage to the transfer rollers, the voltage polarity being opposite to that of the toner.

摘要： A fixing means for an electrophotographic copier includes a first roller and a second roller which are compressed against each other and serve to fix toner images on an image transferring medium passed therebetween. A control means is programmed to operate the rollers such that the heating of the second roller is continued for a predetermined length of time or until the surface temperature of the second roller reaches a certain predetermined temperature level after the surface temperature of the first roller reaches another predetermined temperature level such that the second roller is prevented from cooling down suddenly after the fixing operation is started. In another aspect of the present invention, the size of the image transferring medium passed between the rollers is detected and the heaters for the rollers are controlled accordingly such that temperature variations on the roller surfaces can be reduced and hence the roller lifetimes can be improved.
