    • A motion controlled handheld device includes a display having a viewable surface and operable to generate an image and a gesture database maintaining a plurality of gestures. Each gesture is defined by a motion of the device with respect to a first position of the device. The gestures comprise symbol gestures each corresponding to a character from a preexisting character set. The device includes an application database maintaining at least one application and a gesture mapping database comprising a gesture input map for the application. The gesture input map comprises mappings of the symbol gestures to corresponding inputs for the application. The device includes a motion detection module operable to detect motion of the handheld device within three dimensions and to identify components of the motion in relation to the viewable surface. The device also includes a control module operable to load the application, to track movement of the handheld device using the motion detection module, to compare the tracked movement against the symbol gestures to identify a matching symbol gesture, to identify, using the gesture input map, the corresponding input mapped to the matching symbol gesture, and to provide the corresponding input to the application.

    • A liquid jetting system includes a liquid container including a front wall, and a side wall having a bias-force receiving part, and a liquid jetting apparatus including a holder that receives installation of the liquid container through insertion of the liquid container in a prescribed insertion direction with the front wall facing forward. The holder further includes a liquid feed needle that receives feed of liquid from the liquid container when the liquid container has been installed, a holder-side electrode situated to a upper side from the liquid feed needle and adapted to electrically connect with the liquid container when the liquid container has been installed, and bias force part situated to a lower side from the liquid feed needle and adapted to exert a bias force on the bias-force receiving part of the liquid container in a prescribed biasing direction when the liquid container has been installed. The liquid container further includes a feed part having a liquid feed port that opens onto the front wall and that receives insertion of the liquid feed needle when the liquid container has been installed in the holder, and a container-side electrode that is to be secured at such a location as to electrically connect with the holder-side electrode when the liquid container has been installed in the holder. The biasing direction is established such that an extended line extending in the biasing direction from the bias-force receiving part is offset from the container-side electrode towards the side wall side.

    • A liquid container includes a liquid pack having a flexile pouch holding liquid, the flexible pouch having a bent wall which bends with a consumption of the liquid held in the flexible pouch; a container body containing the liquid pack; and a restricting member to be in contact with the bent wall of the flexible pouch for restricting the bent wall of the flexible pouch from bending outward while the liquid is consumed. The restricting member is in contact with the bent wall over substantially the entire thickness of the flexible pouch of the liquid pack. When the flexible pouch of the liquid pack is compressed to discharge the liquid, the bent wall of the flexible pouch of the liquid pack can be surely prevented from bending outward, without any breakage of the flexible pouch.

    • A motion controlled handheld device includes a display having a viewable surface and operable to generate an image and a gesture database maintaining a plurality of gestures. Each gesture is defined by a motion of the device with respect to a first position of the device. The device includes a plurality of applications each having a plurality of predefined commands and a gesture mapping database comprising a plurality of command maps. Each of the command maps corresponds to a particular one of the applications and maps each of the predefined commands to one of the gestures. The device includes a motion detection module operable to detect motion of the handheld device within three dimensions and to identify components of the motion in relation to the viewable surface. The device also includes a control module operable to load one of the applications, to select one of the command maps corresponding to the loaded application, to track movement of the handheld device using the motion detection module, to compare the tracked movement against the gestures to determine a matching gesture, to identify, using the selected command map, the predefined command mapped to the matching gesture, and to perform the identified command using the loaded application.
