    • An image data signal value conversion is performed such that the volume of ink applied to image areas on a print medium to be printed by the overlapping portions of the printing element substrates is smaller than that applied to image areas on the print medium to be printed by portions other than the overlapping portions. Alternatively, the image data signal value conversion is performed such that the volume of ink applied to overlapping areas on the print medium to be printed by two consecutive printing main scans is smaller than that applied to areas other than the overlapping areas. For this reason, even when forming photographic images by using an elongate “joining head”, high-quality images with no density unevenness between overlapping areas and other areas on a print medium can be produced. Also in a serial type printing apparatus, uniform images with no seam stripes can be produced.

    • A library device comprises a cell, a drive, and an accessor. The cell is capable of accommodating a plurality of cartridges. The drive performs a recording or reproduction of data between the cartridges and the drive. The accessor carries the cartridges between the cell and the drive. The cell is provided with a first rack gear which extends in a direction in which the accommodated cartridges are arranged. The accessor comprises an accessor base and a feed block. The accessor base comprises a second rack gear. The second rack gear extends in the extension direction of the first rack gear. The second rack gear is formed in correspondence with the first rack gear. The feed block comprises a pinion gear, a driving unit, and a holding unit. The pinion gear is meshed with the first and second rack gears. The driving unit drives the pinion gear. The holding unit holds the cartridges.

    • A current sense circuit for use with a switching regulator including a first transistor, connected to an inductor, configured to switch a current flowing through the inductor from a power supply; and a second transistor, connected to a node to which the inductor and the first transistor are connected, configured to be turned on during a part of an OFF period of the first transistor. The current sense circuit includes a current generator configured to generate a sense current corresponding to a current flowing through the first transistor; a hold circuit configured to output a voltage corresponding to the sense current during an ON period of the first transistor, and to hold and output the voltage corresponding to the sense current during the OFF period of the first transistor; and an output transistor configured to generate a current corresponding to the voltage output by the hold circuit.
