The improved strength of the mixed and abrasion resistance of the mastic enable the thickness of wearing course overlays to be reduced without detrimental effects of wear life. The addition of diatomite makes the pavement mix more forgiving of errors in asphalt and aggregate amounts and can result in significant reduction of cost/sq. yard of pavement.

摘要： The present utility model pertains to the technical field of equipment for producing Asphalt Concrete (AC) or Hot Mix Asphalt Concrete (HMAC), and relates more particularly to an improvement to mobile asphalt plants endowed with side protectors. Protective screens have been developed for the regions where operators and others should not circulate where high temperatures and noise levels prevail. The protectors are installed in the transfer region of the virgin aggregate coming from the dosage system to the drying/heating system, where the intake temperature of the dosed material is high and elements such as the conveyor belt can cause injury to operators. The other region to be insulated is the place where the burner of the plant carries out the combustion process. Besides protecting these areas in order to avoid any contact of the operators with the heated system, there is also a reduction in noise in these regions. Accordingly, by the use thermally and acoustically-insulting screens, it is clearly possible to increase safety at work.

摘要： A high asphalt content paving material containing diatomite. The diatomite stabilizes the additional asphalt preventing bleeding, rutting and shoving. The diatomite must be present in sufficient quantity to adsorb at least the excess asphalt and, preferably, all of the asphalt present in the mix. A method of calculating this optimum diatomite content is presented. Further, a method of adding the diatomite to the mix in order to minimize damage to the diatoms is disclosed.

摘要： In the batchwise production of asphalt concrete only such aggregate is utilized, as comprises a coarse-grained portion, a fine-grained portion and a filler portion. The coarse-grained portion and the bituminous binder used are mixed in a mixer, and the filler portion is added to the mixer In such a way that it is has been taken up by and suspended in the binder film deposited on the coarse-grained portion before the free particles of the fine-grained portion are added. In such a way the thickness of the binder film and the capability thereof to take up the particles of the fine-grained portion are increased so that also said particles are coated with and suspended in the binder. An apparatus for carrying the production process into effect has a control device (30) to ensure that the binder film deposited on the particles of the coarse-grained portion has taken up the particles of the filler portion and has thereby obtained the desired thickness and viscosity before the free particles of the fine-grained portion are supplied.
