    • A shadow mask includes a perforated region in which a plurality of electron beam passage apertures are formed, a non-perforated region on the periphery of the perforated region, and a skirt portion bent to an electron gun side with respect to the non-perforated region. The curved surfaces on an x-axis and a y-axis of the perforated region are convex to a panel side. The perforated region includes a curved surface that is convex to the panel side and a curved surface that is convex to the electron gun side on a periphery of the perforated region. Furthermore, the perforated region has a curved surface that is convex to the panel side and a curved surface that is convex to the electron gun side in a region surrounded by the periphery, the x-axis, and the y-axis. Because of this, the color displacement caused by doming can be reduced while a shadow mask is used which is made of an inexpensive iron material, and in which the increase in the difference in elevation in the z-axis direction between a center portion and a diagonal portion of the perforated region is suppressed.

    • A substantially rectangular shadow mask in a dome shape includes a plurality of tie-bands with a longitudinal direction thereof being a short-side direction of the shadow mask, a plurality of bridges connecting the tie-bands adjacent to each other in a long-side direction of the shadow mask, and a plurality of electron beam passage apertures formed between the tie-bands. In a region sandwiched by a pair of straight lines parallel to the long-side direction, which respectively pass through a pair of the bridges adjacent to each other in the short-side direction, on a surface of the tie-band on a side opposed to a panel, a plurality of non-through concave portions are formed. Consequently, color displacement caused by heat doming of the shadow mask can be suppressed.

    • An adapter for a memory device for connecting a detachable memory device to an AT attachment (ATA) interface of a host computer and a connecting method using the adapter are presented. With a conventional adapter which is not supplied with a number of heads and a number of sectors per track of the memory device in advance, the actual numbers of the memory area of the memory device may be different from those supplied the adapter for a memory device. This prevents the memory device from being normally accessed in a cylinder head sector (CHS) mode by the adapter. The adapter for a memory device according to the present invention identifies a file format of data stored in the memory area in the memory device, and retrieves and saves data about the number of heads and the number of sectors per track. Even if the adapter is not previously supplied with the number of heads and the number of sectors per track of the memory device, it accordingly allows the memory device to be accessed in the CHS mode.
