    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal continuously variable transmission having a structure which is manufactured at a low cost without impairing advantageous properties such as reducing power loss and achieving excellent durability by performing a smooth speed change operation with a light force. SOLUTION: An oscillating unit 33 is formed by assembling a trunnion 11a, an oscillating bracket 34 and a spherical seat 35. An oscillating cylinder 44 of the oscillating bracket 34 is fitted externally on a support beam 36 of the trunnion 11a, and an outer ring 51 of a thrust roller bearing 14a is fitted externally on a support shaft 45 together with the spherical seat 35. The support shaft 45 and a guide cylinder 54 of the outer ring 51 are engaged on guide planes 47, 47 and a guide hole 55, each of which is provided in an inclined direction. Along with a relative oscillation displacement between the trunnion 11a and the outer ring 51, the outer ring 51 and the power roller 12 are deformed in the axial direction of the tilt rotation axes 15a, 15b so as to start the speed change operation.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure to be manufactured at a low cost without impairing advantageous properties such as a reduced power loss and excellent durability, by performing a smooth speed change operation with a light force.
      SOLUTION: A holder member 34 constituting an oscillating unit 33 is formed by joining a pair of end brackets 35, 35 having tilt rotation axes 37, 37 respectively with a partially cylindrical connecting member 57. In the same way, in the trunnion 11a, tilt rotation axes 43, 43 provided at both ends are pivotably supported in the support round holes 41, 41 formed on the end brackets 35, 35 in a tilting state respect to both tilt rotation axes 37, 37. A power roller 12a is so supported as to swingably displace and rotate in an intermediate portion of the trunnion 11a. A synchronization means for mechanically synchronizing an inclination angle of each holder member 34 around each of the tilt rotation axes 37, 37 is provided between holder members 34 constituting a plurality of swingable units.
