This mentioned mechanism eliminates the linear increase of force e.g. of a spring or other accumulator of force depending on travel and substitutes it with a constant size of force.

    • Disclosed, is a mechanical energy transmission that can induce power multiplication in any given transmission ratio. It provides a means for obtaining highly desirable transmission effects that are unachievable with the conventional transmission, such as: (I) simultaneous power multiplication and speed multiplication, (II) simultaneous power multiplication and speed retainance or vice versa, (III) power multiplication from a speed reducer transmission ratio, that will be greater in magnitude than if conventional transmission device was applied. It can eliminate limitations of the conventional transmission, such as; (I) the need for variable ratio, (II) the need for a ratio shifting means and (III) power reductions or speed reductions.

    • An axle assembly including a housing, a tire supporting hub mounted for rotation with respect to the housing, a drive axle and a planetary unit for coupling the drive axle to the tire supporting hub, such that rotation in the axle produces rotation in the hub. The planetary unit includes a sun gear, at least one planet gear and a ring gear, with the planet gear being in co-meshing engagement with the sun and ring gears. Damping material is used to inhibit or reduce the transmission of vibrations produced by the gear meshes during vehicle operation to the planetary unit cover. In one construction, the planetary unit includes a cover portion and a carrier portion with damping material, such as copper, disposed between the portions. In another construction, bushings made from damping material, such as brass or bronze, are disposed between the planetary gear or gears and the pin member which supports the planetary gear. Since the pins form part of the cover/carrier, vibrations generated by gear meshes in the planetary unit are inhibited or dissipated by the bushings and do not travel from the planet gears to the pin members and/or to the planetary cover.

    • The system includes at least two power disc elements (26, 42) each mounted for rotation on a central shaft which is typically fixed. The first power disc element includes a first peripheral gear portion (33) at the rim (32) thereof by which the first power disc element may be turned by a first system gear mounted on a first system shaft which is offset from the central shaft. The first power disc element also has a second peripheral gear portion (35) in the vicinity of the rim, extending forwardly. A second power disc element has a plurality of outer drive gears (50, 52, 54) mounted for rotation to a rearwardly facing surface thereof, positioned to mate with the second peripheral gear portion on the first power disc element. A central gear (64) is fixed to the central shaft to mate with the outer drive gears on the second power disc element. A second system gear mates with a peripheral gear portion of the second power disc element, the second system gear mounted on a second system shaft which is offset from the central shaft. The central gear may be substantially larger in diameter than the outer drive gears. The forward peripheral gear portion on the first power disc element also may have a substantially smaller diameter than the outside diameter thereof. Further, the system can include two sets of power disc elements, with two members or less, wherein the power disc elements mate with an input/output power disc element so that a single input can produce two output rotations, and vice versa.
