摘要： A heater device that is particularly adapted for use in supplying fluids to a living entity, such as a human or an animal. The heater is a transformer and includes a core, a primary winding and a secondary. The core is preferably a pair of E-shaped core sections, each having outer legs and an inner leg, with the outer legs being longer than the inner legs. The core thus forms a receiver opening intermediate the inner legs that slidingly receives a self-contained cartridge enclosing the secondary. The secondary is a planar, tubular conduit shaped in the configuration of an elongated loop and having an inlet for receiving fluid and an outlet for discharging that fluid at an elevated temperature. The extending ends of the outer and inner legs of each core sections face each other and form a receiver opening intermediate the inner legs. The cartridge is insertable and removable from the opening. When inserted, the secondary is in the magnetic flux created by an alternating power supplied to the primary windings and the secondary is shorted out to convert that magnetic flux into heat to warm the fluid passing through the secondary to the desired temperature. The cartridge is easily removable for cleaning and/or replacement.

The liquid metal sodium chamber includes liquid metal sodium, and the metallic material is cooled approximately to between 100° C. and 250° C. The inert gas chamber includes inert gas such as nitrogen or argon, and the metallic material is cooled approximately to room temperature. In the liquid metal sodium removal chamber, the liquid metal sodium remaining on the metallic materials is removed by using vapor, mist, and water.

The susceptor composition is activated in the presence of radio frequency (RF) energy. In one embodiment, the susceptor composition of the present invention comprises a susceptor and a carrier. The carrier and susceptor are blended with one another and form a mixture, preferably a uniform mixture. The susceptor is present in an amount effective to allow the susceptor composition to be heated by RF energy. In a preferred embodiment, the susceptor also functions as an adhesive. The susceptor is an ionic or polar compound and acts as either a charge-carrying or an oscillating/vibrating component of the susceptor composition. The susceptor generates thermal energy in the presence of an RF electromagnetic or electrical field (hereafter RF field).

The first member or second member is made of an electrically conductive material or positioned adjacent an electrically conductive material. The inductive heating apparatus includes a flexible, reshapeable cable assembly operably positionable adjacent the first member along the first bondline. The flexible, reshapeable cable assembly is capable of being manually shaped to a first shape of the first bondline, and is capable of being manually re-shaped to a second shape of a second bondline different than the first shape of the first bondline. An alternating current power supply is electrically coupled to the flexible, reshapeable cable assembly. When the alternating current power supply is activated the reshapeable cable assembly operates to inductively heat the electrically conductive material for conductive heating of the thermally responsive bonding material substantially uniformly along the first bondline.

摘要： An apparatus for forming and consolidating organic matrix composites. An organic matrix composite panel comprising laid-up prepregs is placed between sheets of a susceptor material that is susceptible to inductive heating to form a workpiece. The resulting workpiece is placed within upper and lower dies formed of a material that is not susceptible to inductive heating. An induction coil embedded within the dies is energized and inductively heats the susceptor sheets surrounding the panel. The sheets in turn conductively heat the organic matrix composite panel. A pressure zone between the workpiece and one of the dies is pressurized to form the workpiece to the contour of a forming surface on one of the dies. The pressure in the pressure zone is maintained on the workpiece until the organic matrix composite panel is fully consolidated and formed.
