    • A tubing occlusion clip comprising a first wall portion, first and second arms joined to spaced regions of the first wall portion and a closing wall portion joined to the first arm and extendible to the second arm such that the arms cooperate with the wall portions to form a closed loop. The wall portions have openings, and a tube is coupled to the first wall portion and extends across the closed loop and through the opening of the closing wall portion. First and second clamping members are carried by the first and second arms, respectively, and they are adapted to have the tube extend therebetween. The arms are relatively movable toward each other to a clamping position in which the tube is clamped between the clamping members and relatively movable away from each other to a releasing position. Interlocking members are provided on the closing wall portion and the second arm for positively locking the closed loop against opening when the arms are in the releasing position.

    • The invention includes a concentrator that pressurizes and provides an enriched liquid suspension to a separator. In the concentrator, the incoming liquid suspension is driven by a diaphragm pump into a funnel-shaped accumulator that is closed at its top. Some of the heavier particles go directly to the bottom of the accumulator, but the lighter particles and the remainder of the suspension are forced to flow through tubes that extend from the top of the accumulator upward on a helical path. Further particulate matter settles out in the helical passages and migrates to the bottom of the accumulator. From the accumulator, the concentrated suspension is fed under pressure to a separator that includes an inclined chamber that is completely filled with liquid. A stream of wash water is directed from the lower rear end of the separator towards the upper front end of the separator. An island in the separator includes a rearwardly opening passage through which the enriched suspension from the concentrator enters the separator. The floor and ceiling of the separator chamber define between them an undulating passage from the back end to the front end of separator. The separated material is discharged from the separator through a unique pinch valve, while the wash water and finer particles are forced from the front end of the separator chamber through an upwardly directed helical path which provides further separation.

    • A clamp for controlling the flow through a hose or flexible tubing such as is used in intravenous systems comprises a pair of parallel leg members joined by a curved end portion, each leg containing elements capable of clamping down on the tubing when the clamp is brought into closed position. The clamp contains a catch arm which sits on a flexible arm member at the free end portion of the clamp, and retains the upper leg member when the clamp is closed. Optionally, this catch arm can be multi-tiered, allowing the clamp to be closed at a variety of positions, each restricting a different amount of flow. When clamped, the clamping elements from each leg are alongside each other, crimping the tubing at two slightly separated points, and maximizing the clamping effect on the tubing. There are openings through the curved end portion and through the flexible arm member to receive the tube, and to retain it in position to maximize the effect of the clamp.

    • A high performance pinch tube valve for accurate, reliable, high speed and precise control of relatively low viscosity fluids. The valve is particularly adapted for use in apparatus for controlled pattern dyeing of textile material, such as carpet, with liquid dye streams. The valve includes a valve block having a bore receiving a flexible tube, and a passageway communicating with and disposed generally transversely to the bore, the intersection of the bore and the passageway defining a pinch chamber. A tube pinch off member is selectively reciprocal within the passageway into the bore for forcing the flexible tube closed. The tube pinch off member comprises a piston rod and a freely-floating ball disposed between the end of the rod and the flexible tube. The pinch chamber has a flattened wall portion formed in the bore opposite the communicating passageway. Additionally, the communicating passageway has a larger diameter than the bore. There is further provided an electrically operated pneumatic valve for selectively supplying a gas under pressure to actuate the piston for pinching closed the flexible tube. The piston and the electrically operated pneumatic valve may be separate or included within a single valve body.

    • A pinch valve for selectably controlling flow of fluid through one of two resiliently deformable tubes used e.g., for transporting water in a steam iron. The valve comprises a body member defining a compression surface supporting each one of the tubes. A selector lever is pivotally mounted on the body for selectably moving an integral cam abutment between individual tube shut-off positions. A rocker element supported on the tubes is captively held in the body member intermediate the selector lever and the compression surface for rocking movement between tube pinching positions. The cam abutment continually presses on the rocker causing the rocker to bear upon each one of the tubes on the compression surface. As the selector lever is pivoted, the cam abutment engageably slides along the rocker to rock the rocker between its tube pinching positions. The tubes are thus isolated from sliding contact with the cam abutment by the interposed rocker thereby preventing frictional wear of the tubes.

    • A two piece roller clamp is disclosed for regulating the fluid flow rate through plastic tubing by defining the size of the tubing lumen. The clamp includes a U-shaped body with a base and two side walls and a longitudinally movable roller mounted in tracks formed in the side walls. The roller is biased against a roller bearing surface running along the length of the base. Adjacent to the roller bearing surface is a tube compression slot having a lower wall uniformly spaced below the roller. A channel of varying cross-section is provided in the lower wall of the tube compression slot. The roller exerts a uniform, but minimal force on the tubing compressing it against the lower wall of the slot permitting the formation of a lumen defined by the contours of the channel. The slot is dimensioned vertically to provide for the minimal compression force by the roller and is dimensioned horizontally to confine the entire compressed cross-section of tubing without excess space thereby conforming the tubing to the contours of the channel to regulate the lumen size. A uniform compression force is maintained during longitudinal movement of the roller by the roller bearing surfaces which prevent perpendicular movement of the roller towards the slot.
